micro scrog - high stealth

OK, this is a big leap for my grow setup
i've had great luck with my 1st setup, a 38 by 15 inch tube of aluminum flashing
used a grand total of 78w of cfl's set in a steel pizza dish, this was pretty ghetto
and low cost, but as we've seen, low cost doesn't have to mean low results
here's what i did with a nl#5, pictured inside and outside of the grow chamber, and the main cola

so it was hard not to keep this grow chamber, it performs very well
but when it comes to stealth, there can be no compromises
the 38 inch height is the killer, just not comfortable with it
it could be put in many places with good stealth, but good is not good enough

so this is my plan, i've bought some of the materials, and getting ready to start

the dimensions are going to be 2 feet high, 16 inches wide, 4 feet long
it's the low height that is going to help me blend this in a very stealthy place
and scrog seems to be the best way to reduce height
it would take a determined search(in my opinion) to find, and that's what i want
the box is going to be built from simple drywall, a cheap, fire resistant material
pots will be 8 inches tall(2 gallons), 2 plants total, 2 foot square for each plant
with the screen 6 inches above the pot, 10 inches will be available for the bud branches
lighting is going to be 4 32w t8's, t5's were pricey and the ballasts weren't easily available locally
so no branch will be further than 2 inches from a t8 bulb, that should work
i want to attach the bulb sockets to adjustable rails on each end, that's going to be a bit tricky

so i'll post pics as i build
be glad of any interest, but it's the motivation of getting it built that's driving this log

i always try to follow up threads so that results are there, whether good or bad

this was an interesting project, and it is mostly built, but you discover the damnedest things at times
so i've done a few good grows, thinking i'm getting my shit down pretty good
i'm about half way through this build, reading a little bit more on scrog

so i read through the 'enter the scrog' thread, been there before, big thread
and i stumble across this post, OP mentions you really want to use clones or feminized seed
i ponder this for a moment, i was planning on combo, one clone and one seed
always like to be trying something new, and i'm not keen on feminized seed, want to collect the occasional pollen for my own crosses
i then it dawns on me, a male in there is going to be a mess, collecting pollen means a totally pollinated crop, or cutting the male away from the screen
what a f'ing thought, it just hadn't ocurred to me, i know, it seems stupid
but sometimes the connection just doesn't get made

well, this is where you change your plan, got the damn thing near built, what to do?
LST is what you do, should work just fine with the height, height is my big need, 24 inches
so i will post another thread with pics of chamber, but i did want to tidy this one up

i dont get it your going to put your plant in a tube with a screen for scrog with CFL's inside ?

if so can wait to see it , planning on doing a scrog myself

no, growing in a tube is what i've been doing, worked well, but a bit tall for the stealth i want
so i just built a more conventional rectangular chamber, just 2 feet tall
it's all about the stealth, i can fit the shorter chamber in a much better hiding place

this thread is on hold for the moment, but i think i will use this chamber as a scrog setup
i do have 2 femmes now, that's what i need for this chamber to make sense
but i will have to synchronize the 2 different strains to finish at nearly the same time
until then, the small lst is the grow
and my signature is screwed up, been trying to fix that, it's jumping to strange places
