First Closet Grow- Need advice. HELP!

Hi everyone! Ive been reading these forums nonstop for the past few days and the information has brought me from complete idiot, to now somewhat schooled in the art of atleast starting my own grow.

While most of the advice i have read has been EXTREMELY helpful, i have been really worrying about what im going to do to maintain a nice level temperature in my closet. Another thing that has been worrying me is the smell. Ive read article after article on the dank odor these things put out and im thinking to myself ... damn ... is the whole neighborhood gonna smell it?

So the closet is a pretty nice size, and ive attached a few pics for you guys so you can check it out. The actual setup hasnt been built yet, but stuff is already on the way, clones are on standby, ect, so its goin down.

Basically im planning on having maybe one mother , and four females growing in there. We have ordered a 400wt hps, and plan on growing them using the drip hydro method.

If you look at the pictures, youll see that at the top of my closet is an entrance that leads up to my attic. in this attic there are several vents leading outside, the attic itself, insulation, ect.

these are the questions basically, When reading, try and remember that its our first op. We have depleted most of our budget buying the equipment we already have such as our 400 watt hps, nutes, flouro, setting up the system, ect. We are brizzoke , but understand the importance of doing things right for safety. thank you for all your help beforehand
;)
the closet dimensions are 6.2 feet x 4.4 feet.

our two biggest concerns are these:

1. How dank will this smell get? We are getting clones of apollo and have been researching ways to ward off the odor, but experience is everything and you guys will know better than anyone. is it gonna fill up my house? Will it go through my windows? if the smell is going to be bad with 5 plants ... how do i get rid of it?

2. How hot is this room gonna get? With a 400 hps, should i be able to cool it down with just a fan,or will i most likely have to invest in some type of portable air conditioner? what are the pros and cons of both? i thought about maybe splicing a duct from the attic and dropping it in through the top of the closet, is this a bad idea? Will the heat from this operation be strong enough to heat up my whole room, or even my whole house?

thank youuuu!!!

I had 2X 400w HPS in a closet half that size. Even with one light you are going to need to vent the room to some extent and also have a fan to circulate air around the closet. You have enough room for at least another 400w and lots of fluro side lighting. You can use a carbon filter on your exhaust if smell becomes a problem. The smell depends on your strain. Some don't really smell much at all and others stink to high hell.

heyyy i really appreciate your SUPER QUICK help! Yeah , i figured the room would have to be vented one way or another. How would you recommend i do that? By opening the closet every few hours? maybe opening the attic so the hot air can rise ( but without a carbon filter the hot air would rise with the nice smell : / ) ? will an exhaust be 100 percent necesary?

absolutely carbon filter and i would suggest that u dont exhaust into the attic flir will see that extra heat blowin into that attic maybe out into another room

Yeah i was thinking about FLIR, your the first person who has mentioned it might be a bad idea to exhaust into the attic, thank you for that. ;-)

do you think it would be a bad idea to exhaust into a bathroom adjacent to the closet? If so, Could i run some ducts from the grow , up through the attic, and then down into this bathroom without having to worry about flir seeing a white worm crawling through my attic. lol.

You can get insulated flexible ducts that should do the job they also help with noise. They are more expensive than the normal stuff but worth it for the peace of mind. No FLIR in Aus but I imagine it would suck balls.
