I have a 400w MH and plants are doing fine. In about 2 week they will be ready to flower but I don't think I'll have my 400w HPS system by then. What can I do on a budget to replace my HPS lighting until then?

well a metal halide is just fine for flowering. First of all they are supposed to reduce the stretch when compared to HPS ands I heard some growers like to use MH for the first few weeks to keep the plants shorter. Flowers could take a few weeks to really form anyways so if it's coming in a few weeks you'll be fine. You could get some cfls for extra light if you wanted. BTW I'm flowering with a 400 watt mh and a 250 watt mh for extra light.

i agree with what everything pipe said.. good info... i have also flowered under a mh and they do just fine.. i actualy think that the mh's make a lil more tricromes, not that i can prove that or anything, just something i thought i noticed ... or you could always get some cfls, but that seems like its not really needed unless you want the extra light as the mh will do just fine for now..

Thank you both, I was worried a little bit that my efforts were going to waste.

How many plants are you doing and if you have done this before, was your yield decent?
