Living life in pursuit of pleasure is a great way to ensure misery. Pleasure and happiness and entirely different things.
No, "unsubscribed" and "still posting" are entirely different things. "Pleasure" and "happiness" are, however, not.

But does momentary pleasure lead to lasting happiness?

A good argument is heavy drug users. A lot of them would probably tell you they get pleasure out of getting a fix from their drug, but in the big picture, they spend money they need for other things to supply their addiction, so it decreases the amount and potential for lasting happiness.

But I think I would disagree that the pursuit of pleasure leads to misery, in all instances. I think sometimes it can very easily lead to lasting happiness.

Often, that which is least pleasing brings the most happiness. Does getting up and going to work every day bring pleasure? Only for a few very lucky people. How about going out drinking vs staying home to study? For most, a night of drinking will bring pleasure, but done to often will ultimately bring misery. Is it pleasing to be woken up at all hours of the night by a crying baby? No, But your child will bring you happiness and fulfillment far beyond that of simple pleasure. In relationships should we always do what we please or should we make sacrifices? A person who can not compromise their own pleasure will not be in a relationship very long.

Have you ever heard of the emotional IQ? Researchers found that the most successful people in life were those that could resist immediate gratification or "pleasure." Doing so, is one of the core components of a happy life.

Questions: From a gay perspective, is prison sex between two consenting adults who began their sentences as heterosexuals an indication of having turned homosexual, or is it merely making the best of a bad situation? Or...

If they continue consensual homosexual acts outside of prison, are they gay, newly gay, bi-sexual, or exercising a habit they found pleasurable? Or...

Anyone gay have an answer?

What do gays really want? Are you serious? They want to be able to love, be with, and marry whoever they want; without people being cruel to them about it, or stupid laws forbidding it. They want the same rights as straight people. I work with, and personally know, many gay people. None of the ones I know are angry about anything other than being constantly judged and ridiculed. They do NOTHING to hurt us. Their choices have NO bearing on our lives. Yet people constantly bash them because they "don't want to see fags kissing". Ok, then DON'T LOOK. Turn your head. I don't like seeing filthy, disgusting people kissing. Or enormous women squeezing into spandex. I TURN MY HEAD. They are human beings. No different than us, except they are attracted to their same sex. And that's not something they "choose". No more than we "choose" to be straight. Just leave them alone and let them live their lives. Wtf.

for the most part, gays are their own worst enemies. these grotesque gay pride parades do nothing but hurt their cause. and this is just one example of the movement that they have control over that hurts their cause. i don't understand why they would even want to be a part of a society that for the most part, despises them. you cannot force yourselves into the mainstream. it just won't work! the more gay folks try to force their beliefs on straights, the more resistance and hate they will encounter. i have no problem with one's decision to be gay. i don't agree with it, but i don't hate because of it. i hate what they do, but i don't hate them. in a perfect world, it shouldn't matter....

What do they do that you hate? Do all of them do it? If not, is it fair to judge the entire group of homosexual people based on the ones behavior you happen to hate?

I have a gay friend whose parents have been happily married for 30+ years. He was never sexually, physically, or mentally abused. He had a very happy childhood. He played sports all through school, was in various clubs, and got good grades. So why is he gay then? This thread is ridiculous. The logic some of you people have scares me. I think some of YOU have mental disabilities, not gay people.

By your logic, cannabis rallies and marches hurt our cause, too.

Are we hurting our movement?

Are we cannabis users trying to force our views on the rest of society?

Of course not.

We are simply trying to demonstrate to society that a wrong has been committed on us through the application of unjust laws.

Gays are doing the very same thing.

Hate the sin, but love the sinner. How evangelical of you.

Even in an imperfect world, it simply does not matter.
