Sarah palin admits to crossing border to use canadian health care system

I wondered if this would get much attention. To the reactionary public listening to Faux News regarding public medicine...

Palin is comfortable with Canadian medicine because: Doctors still treat patients - not the government.

The Huffington writer no doubt enjoyed getting this sucker punch in. LOL

"The irony, one guesses, is that Palin now views Canada's health care system as revolting: with its government-run administration and 'death-panel'-like rationing."

Here's the truth right from Palin's mouth:

"My first five years of life we spent in Skagway, Alaska, right there by Whitehorse. Believe it or not – this was in the ‘60s – we used to hustle on over the border for health care that we would receive in Whitehorse. I remember my brother, he burned his ankle in some little kid accident thing and my parents had to put him on a train and rush him over to Whitehorse and I think, isn’t that kind of ironic now. Zooming over the border, getting health care from Canada."

So, the facts are ... Palin's PARENTS used to take Palin and her siblings across the border for heath care. Palin was too young to have a say about where she was to be taken for health care. No matter to the Huffington Post though. In their attempt at the personal destruction of everyone to the right of Lenin, they will stop at nothing.

Well, get out the double-irony alert-o-meter. Canada was not born with the single-payer system it currently has. In fact, the full-blown socialization of its medical sector was a long time coming and was not in anything like its current state in the 1960s. In the early '60s, Canada had passed laws pushing universal access to hospitals; in 1966, the Medical Care Act allowed each province to create universal coverage systems, which took years to fully implement. It was only in 1984 that the current system really came online in the Canada Health Act, which banned patient fees and billing by doctors in excess of what the government paid.

Nuff said....

Red, you never seem to find out the truth of a matter before spinning it.

A pattern you cannot seem to break.

Skagway pop. 862

Whitehore pop 20,000

Alaska...in the 60's. Look at a map and figure it out.

i'm just a messenger.

it's not hard to understand why they'd go to the nearest big city to go to the doctor. even today it's hard to see a well developed and specialized supply of health care in really remote places....

she's the one that opened the door with the 'hypocrisy' comment.......

Unable to put it context still?

Oh my.....

Think Canada has the same health care it did in the 60's?

Think it through..... take your time.

Unless you are truly a parrot.

Palin, born in Idaho, lived in and around Wasilla, Alaska for most of her life. The nearest city in Canada, Whitehorse, is a 15 hour drive away. Anchorage is only 45 minutes away. I definitely want to hear more about this.

Hang on and let them catch their breath. It's always a hoot to watch liberals froth and ignore common sense and facts. I guess they just get in the way...

EDIT: Missed the part where she said she lived in Skagway at the time this happened. That makes it 100 miles to Juneau and 108 to Whitehorse (different search engines give different mileages).

conservatives can try and make this seem like nothing, but the article exposes a lot about sarah palin.

first, she admits to being a hypocrite.

second, it shows her politics interfere with her logic. (she experienced how the extremely high costs of health care drove her family into going to a different country for treatment, yet ignores it, and somehow justifies that not doing anything about it is the right choice...crazy, i know...)

third, it hurts the woman's credibility. repukes have taken everything that woman says and believed it, even the the lies and spin. it should be a wake-up and smell the coffee moments for republicans and the general public (fox news put out poll numbers that show just how misinformed americans are about their health care, 80% of people still believe that the health care bill will raise premiums for everybody.... huh???)....

and IS, i told ya reconciliation is on the table. guess it's one source vs. the other guy's right???.... it's nice n hot if you want to take a bite.....
