Slow growth & Yellowish Leaves

Some background on my system: 1000w MH about 40in above plants, using separate bubble-buckets with a airstone in each, 1 tsp to 1 gal of 7-7-7 all purpose liquid nutes.

The growth is slow, the leaves are yellowish, and on one of them it looks like brown spots. I'm thinking that my nutes are too high (newb mistake) even after I did a water change to less nutes. What would you advise?

Hmmm. If I didn't see them in a drip system I would say they look exactly like root bound. But that can't be it unless they were justmoved from another smaller pot.

If not, magnesium and nitrogen deficiency are the only two I know of that will turn leaves that yellow. And mag is the only one that will curl the leaves up like that. If it is mag, add Epsom salts to your reservoir and it will recover in a week. But damaged leaves will not.

Just did another water change. This time went with like 1 tsp per 4 gal. I'll throw in some epsom salts and see if that makes a difference. I think I just put too much nutes in there. Looked at the plant deficiencies on the forum and it looked like "nute burn". Thanks for the help, I'll post again once I get some results from this change.

Hi, Another thought is nutrient lock out from too acidic(low pH) a nutrient mix (which in turn is connected possibly with hi nitrogen/nutrient content (as you implied)...one more thought... how frequent are you watering? Also how frequently do you change out the whole nutrient solution? Just taking a few extra guesses, hope you figure it out. Happy Gardening! GrowIT!:weed:

Took the pH on the water with a kit I have for my fish tank. Came out to about 7.8 or so. Plants don't show any signs of recovery and little to no growth. I added a tsp of epsom salts to each when it asks for 1tsp/gal. Didn't want to overdo it since I'm guessing that's what got me in this problem to begin with. Should I add more epsom? The nutes in each bucket should be 1/4th normal dose.

There's a lot to learn about this hobby, more than I'd expected. Once you find your groove is it generally this hard to keep a decent crop going?
