i thought that typically all big quakes had an effect on the earth's axis?
and i do actually think that there is some kinda truth to the prophecies and the mayans, 2012, etc. i dont completely disregard those things...but i dont think that the planet is going to come to an end, or our species.
one thing i do think though, is that mother nature is going to start finding more ways of "curing" herself of humans. we can only do so much to the planet before the planet fights back and tries to heal itself of us...
In the amazon rainforest, when any one species of insects become too proliferate they will become ten times more likely of falling prey to the corticeps fungi, a ever mutating fungus that infects small insects, causing them to act oddly, gain altitude, and then erupts from the body and releases spores to infect nearby insects. the forces of nature are great equalizers to the animal kingdom, but what separates us humans from the rest of the animal kingdom?
thats right your frontal lobes! we are the only species that has any real chance of survival in the face of a global natural disaster. I believe that the frontal cortex arose in us for that sole purpose, before us what happened to the dominant life forms of our planet? they went extinct due to forces beyond conception for any creature of the time. think of life as not just what it is on the surface, the procreation of bio-organic cells/multi cellular organisms, but as a single interconnected being. a being that took from the ashes and mistakes of its fallen legacy, and built upon it a new legacy. one with a contingency plan for just such reoccurring disasters called the brain. it is up to us to keep this planet, our species, and life in its grandeur alive.
