Big Leaves touching soil????

Before lights come on leaves are perky and up, later leaves/branches sag and just touch the soil, I just put paper between to stop contact as I dont want fungus/mold etc

I have 7 plants under 250w hps 20 inches away,(this is in Veg) this is the only plant doing that, all plants are random seedbags

this one just happens to be 3 inches tall, 9 inches wide. 18 days old plant

info: temps is 75-80, humidity 38%
watered 2 days ago , its not under or overwatered, as I tested both and watched, no change
20 inch fan blowing on plants and between light

I need to get this plant to grow a few inches vertically to get off the ground, without messing with other plants which are all healthy, thinking its just its weird genetics, or heat stress, also this plant has the darkest leaves out of the other 6 plants

Anyones 2 cents welcomed, here's a few different angles of pic

Take a trip to Wal-Mart and pick up some 26watt cfls 5000k and place them in your veg room to help stimulate growth and it IS possible that could be an iron deficiency but I wouldn't read too much into that quite yet until we see if the blue light spectrum improves the lifestyle at all. Hope this helps. Also if you need any help during your grow and have a current grow journal going put a link up and I will be sure to sub and keep an eye on your ladies :D

didnt think of that..... will pick up a cfl and give it a try, might push the height, I was surprised that I had a short one with a HPS was expecting leggy grow, I might start a journal tomoro, Its just I have so many different things goin on in my grow, from short/tall bushy, and even 2 that look like they sprouted 3 days ago (really 18 days)

too much to descibe for a journal lol, 1st grow and learning a lot from all the different plants and situations there all goin thru

I think joker is right about the light. I use the 6500k CFL's for veg. The blue light will let them get taller and get those leaves out of the dirt. After a while those bottom leaves will fall off anyway, so I wouldn't worry too much about them. For that matter, after the plant gets a little more top growth, you can just cut them off.

Heres the droopy plant again, still havent realized my mistake yet, I took the paper out and put some pieces of an egg cart under to lift up the branches or nodes, I dont kno the right term???!! Got some good growth as you can see, coming in

plant height 6 inches, width is 13 inches, I raised the light to 19 inches from the top of this plant

Everything is the same temps 81, RH 38%, i watered a few days ago, about a half cup of a dixie cup. When I water I just aim to water the middle right around the stem not the whole top of the soil. My water is half dose of Botanicare Pro Blend VEG

How much water would you guys feed to a plant this size in a 2 gallon?????

Do you have a way of getting your hands on some calmag? If so that may help the plant to stand more firm and not so droopy. I am starting to think that it needs more iron. Does your pot have drain holes in the bottom of it? If it has drain holes in the bottom you will want to water it until some water comes out the bottom and water the whole surface so the roots can establish the whole pot rather than just the bottom. Allowing it to completely dry out before watering or how I water with soil is wait until the leafs start to droop a little then I check the soil and see if it needs it by lifting the pot, if it feels a bit heavy then it doesn't need watering. My plants are in 1 gallon pots and I water 1s every 12 days or so. It also depends on your soil. Just water until the water comes out the drain holes some and then wait for the soil to pull away from the walls of the pot and check the water. You are having drooping so it could also be a bit of overwatering. It is better to allow the soil to completely dry out rather than water a little a day because the roots need oxygen also.

I think I was overwatering, I thought watering a lil bit every 2 days was the way to go. WRONG Leaves are picking up slowly, so Im not going to water for at least 5 days. I need to get something to catch the run off, thats why I didnt want to water till the pots leak, reason why plastic bags are around the pots.

Im going to to hydro store tomoro, any recommendations of things to pick up?? goin to get some fluro tubes, possibly calmag after I look into it now.

Thinking about pickin up milwauke ph51 meter, as I have test drops now. Im iffy on buyin a ph meter pen, dont want to spend a lot, if not really needed

Just get ph drops for now until you have a little money to throw into a pen. The cheaper pens tend to break and go out rather quickly. I'll look to see if I still have the link to the calmag and I do. Here's the kind I'm going with as soon as I can afford to get it.

From everything I've read about calmag it does wonders for your plants. Some plastic waterpans work well for catching the water from your pots. Make sure to take a measurement of the bottom of your pots to make sure you get the right size. The somewhat look like this.

Might get one big liner for my whole closet also to keep things clean, since I do have carpet under the wood
