music in the growroom

I cant find any threads about figuring music into the setup. I always have a radio set to this station that plays classical/spanish folk music. Sometimes they read short stories. Now to my point. I have heard that digital ballasts create interference? Can I expect this to jack with my radio? I am in between grows waiting on an hps setup and this concerns me a little as I usually have the radio on the timer with the lights. I can't find any threads about this topic and I would hate to switch to cds or something because the power consumption is an issue (i use an alarm clock radio, no cd player). I would imagine magnetic ballasts make more trouble but i read that digital ones do also. am I just being an idiot? I MUST have music for my plants. these are the things I worry about lol.

i love potheads just because theyre the only ones who would think of playing music for their plants. my "sensible" side tells me thats the most ridiculous thing i've ever heard. but my stoner side who babies his plants kinda wants to try it to.

i just watched something like this on mythbusters and they say that plants dont respond to emotional responses. the only thing ive heard of that would help your plants is talking to them... the only reason that works though is because of the co2 on your breath. just get some co2 :)

I actually just posted in another thread the barrage of things that were wrong with the mythbusters experiment and how it tainted their results. The plant/music debate rages on as it has for decades. I was more wondering about the interference from the ballast.

IF your good at singing you could always sing to your girls and that would produce co2 for them to thrive on. Just depends on how motivated you are to put out your new album or go do a opera show!:weed:

Ive experimented with and without music in the growroom.

And I will say this,

The plants I played classical music to for 3 1/2 hours a day grew much faster, and bigger than the plants without any music whatsoever.

Because of the experiment I conducted many years ago, I still give my girls what they want.

Personally, I cant stand too much classical, but if it ups my yields Im not stoppin' p.s. A word of caution, Ive researched hard on this subject, and the plants that received more than 4 hours of continuous played classical actually did worse.

My reccomendation= 3 1/2 hours MAX!!

Plants do respond to sound. Classical music and positive feedback can and will make plants grow faster.

Plants do respond to sound. Classical music and positive feedback can and will make plants grow faster. Sound waves create stimulation. Will it give you 2x the yield, probably not but what could it hurt

Wow I really thought more people used music in their grows. I guess It will be pretty hard to find someone who can tell me what to expect as far as ballast interference. When I get my new area setup I will post the results in case anyone cares. I've always used a combo of diff floro light in my grows and I imagine a big ass ballast, digital or otherwise might cause some sort of radio interference and that would really suck for me.

I seriously doubt you'll have ballast interference;-)
