Are any of these ready to go?

sissy for best high and ripeness you want about 60%cloudy 30to 40% amber!!! clear and cloudy is more of an uppy giggly high and cloudy amber is more of the couchlook high i mean u could harvest now if u want that cerebral high the plants look amazing and for your first try they are some beauties i would pick you a few buds from some now quick dry test it and go from there if you like the high harvest if not let them go another week or so but anyway you do it you have some high grade on your hand your ak looks so much frosty than mine which company did you go through
awesome to hear. thank you

I got all my seeds from attitude. the AK is "World of Seeds"

I'll give my opinion on all that I had, just in case anyone cares.

Going from best to worst

- Sagarmatha NL #9 - slow and small in veg, but really fast to grow, thick, and beautiful in flower. definitely a keeper for me, unless the final smoke test fails

- DNA LA Woman - I just tossed it in as a freebee. Very much unspectacular in veg. But boy does she smell sweet now. and she is full. a bit longer to flower, but by the looks and smell of it, i think it will be worth it. Really, this thing smells so darned fantastic. amazing. one of the best smells ever. i like to touch it and then sniff my hand for awhile. lol they should bottle this smell up and sell it. i'd buy

-World Of Seeds Afghan Kush (pure) - fast to flower and she looks thick and is sticky.

- Paradise White Berry - I am really hoping this one packs on a bit more before she is done, since she is the best in veg, by far. the mother plant i have is amazing. but so far in flower she is thin and has small spiraled buds.

Super Skunk - out of 10 seeds, only 1 survived to flower (amazingly, since all the other brands/strains i tested made it without a problem). so i was very disapointed with this. however, this one that is in flower was so good that i actually cloned it halfway in. nice and thick and she flowers fast. but the fact that 9 of them failed at some point along the way was a bad sign.

White Widow - nothing great, but i kept a clone or two just in case she smokes well.

Bubble Cheese - complete garbage. huge roots and she was a champ in veg, but the buds are so pitiful that i wont be keeping her.

sorry for rambling

a couple of em look about done. and great job on the plants they r lookin beautiful.

did u purchase these seeds? if so from where?

and a good rule of thumb is to wait one week once u think they r done.

but either way kudos on them my friend, it looks as if ur loupe is only a 30x mag. am i right?

if so, the only real way to see into the trichs is with a 100x loupe
i just got a 100x scope. so i will take a closer look next lights on. helpful to know what to look for though. :)

somebody peas call da am ba lance lol

your almost there hopefully you have been flushing as they were definatelty over fed a little. If you notice the hairs in the second pic are mostly whit the trichomes will change and you will be able to see it very clearly with a good cfl or camera shot. The trichs will look like mushrooms which some al;ready do before biginning to decompose, under the light you will notice they kinda twinkle. You said they haven't done a lot since growing real fast...that is to be expected they will builk up real fast and start to level off and slow dwn and mature. Great first grow so far better than mine.
no flushing. main reason i am not flushing is due to my having several strains in one DWC system, some of which will not be finishing for a few more weeks. i think i will flush the last ones though just to see if flushing really helps.

yeah.. i had unrealistic expectations i suppose. i heard a lot of people claim that the last couple weeks were when they pack on the most. guess not.

I harvest when the buds start to actually look similar to... u know buds ready to smoke. hairs turn (u hardly see white hairs in weed bought off the street. Anyways i've only been doing this for a year. never flushed my dwc when i had it and everything burned smooth (1 day in water at most) using botanicare. I like an up high and i have been forced to pick plants early due to circumstances beyond my control (hermies and what seemed like eventual death). Intuition is best when they look ready to you chop them. I always get the high i want because i am patient and often grow attached. beautiful pics. look like u can go iceskating on those buds

Hey cissy, congrats on bieng patient enough to make it thus far ! I have had a few plants seem to "lock-up"during the last weeks of flowering and i presumed it was some sort of nute-lock which didn't make much sense because the other plants that recieved the same nutes and dosage were perfectly ok. I suppose when you do everything correctly sometimes the shit still won't work. I would really try to get a microscope from radio shack or someplace else , so you can examine those beautiful trichomes up close to determine actual color. much love -tuff

was your ak feminized? Which pic is the ak? The thing is the get bigger fast and and they add a lot of weight later in harvest. People who harvest prematurely will have big airy fluffy buds but patience brings weighty sticky buds. I see about the flushing since your using a dwc system and different strains. Perhaps you could remove the plants or set up a system that would seperate the water from the others in the future.

2nd picture in my 1st post and 2nd picture in my 4th post. I have 3 AK in there. 2 are looking great and 1 is not so great (obviously tossed any clones I took from it). All of my seeds were feminized and they all went through a lot of stress. No hermies though.

As far as flushing. Does it really make that much of a difference? If so, then it won't be a problem IF and WHEN I do this again in the future (I'll be set for a good long time with this go around). I will not be combining strains like this. I will do the entire thing with either one strain or two strains that have shown themselves to finish at the same time.

i've never done the DWC but i notice when i'm flushing in rockwool, they really bulk up in the final 2 weeks especially if i let the rockwool get real light and dry before giving them more ph'd water.

your babes are looking good.

its going to take some experience, that amber trichome shit is good reference, but ultimately you have to know your strains, and experience will tell you when its time to chop.

just look at the bud, notice all the details.

its done and ready for harvest when it looks done and ready for harvest.
i know thats a shitty way of explaining it, but once you get the hang of it you will know what i mean.

i like to chop mine at different stages.

some at cloudy/milky trichs as along as all the little hairs are pulling back into the bud.

then i chop others of the same strain at amber colored trichs.

i do it for 2 reason, to make room for the new clones coming in, and to get different highs off the same buds.

i'm usually happier with the smoke of the plants i wait longer to chop, but sometimes not as dense as the ones i cut earlier.

looks like these guys gave you a bunch of useful tips.

good luck :-)

Based on all the wonderful advice in this thread, I went and got a 100x scope and I decided to go ahead and chop 1 of my plants.

Actually, I only chopped off one branch from one plant. Will this cause stress on the remainder of the plant still in flower? Should I just chop the whole thing down? I figured I would do this as an experiment to see if it is better now or a little bit longer. Basically this is 1 of the 2 main branches on the plant that looked most ready to harvest (a Sag. N.L. #9).

Oddly enough, this N.L. #9 seems about a week or more further along than the other N.L. #9's I have in there. Weird, since they are the same strain and were put in there on the same day.

Here are a couple pics. Compared to a gallon water jug and close up through my scope as well.

Hope I didn't chop this too soon, but it "looked" ready to me and I think I will pull them down at different times this 1st grow and then see what is best.

Guess they did alright despite my over feeding them. That is why the tops are curled and some of the leaves are burned, right? Don't guess I can argue with results though and I cannot imagine this plant being any larger, denser, or more full of resin than it already is (without CO2).

Here are a couple more pics. One close up (she is so full of resin). And another of her hanging to dry.

BTW I am going to trim AFTER drying and put them directly into a jar. Based on the logic of this post by another member (Shrubs First):

Drying is the most key part of the whole smell and flavor department,
not flush.

Smell and flavor are related to the chloraphyl in the plant matter, while
the harshness, and burning of the throat and lungs is described when
smoking herb which hasn't been flushed properly.

You need to allow all of the chloraphyl to release while drying, but the problem
is that chloraphyl is only released and a certain rate, which is much slower
than water is allowed to release, you must allow adequate time to dry, and
the humidity needs to be around 35-45%, this allows the buds to stay moist
long enough to allow the chloraphyl to escape. It should take around 8 days
for the stem between the buds to be dry enough to snap when bent.

Tips:
Do not cut up individual branches when harvesting and hanging, this
allows the moisture to escape too quickly!

Do not trim the buds of their leaves before they are completely dried,
this also allows moisture to escape. Also this is KEY for the curing process,
a properly dried bud will smell MAGNIFICENT right after it is done being
trimmed. Trimming allows the terpenes to really expose themselves and
this causes excess moisture within the leaves and buds to allow the bud
to "sweat" and this is needs to happen right before the buds are jarred,
if you do this before you dry them, what happens to the terpenes? They are
released in to the air and dissipate, you need to do this before you jar them
and then the buds sit and bask in their own dankness..... This is how the
curing process begins. The dispenseries here in boulder buy my meds the
same day that I trim them because they smell as if they have already been
cured, but really, they were dried properly.
Makes sense to me

hey ciss! just noticed this thread and decided to put my 2 cents in.

You seem to have really researched and know the whole deal, but I'd definitely say a week and you're solid! I can tell because all of the pistils have changed color/receded and the trichomes look nice and milky.

You could easily harvest now, but wait that extra 7-10 days and you'll REALLY see your babies plump up!

Also clipping off a branch is not a bad idea, it doesn't harm the plant that much and it really gives you an idea of what you're smoking + the high it gives.

Plus, if you decided to cut the cola first hand and left the bottom/side shoots, this would allow these bud sites to catchup because there wasn't light hitting these areas before.

hey cissy, just saw that pic u took with the 100x, thats a perfect loupe, see the mushroom looking trichs? well they are pretty clear right now, as the last few days/or week that ur growing, the "mushroom heads" of the trichs will start turnign cloudy, and then eventually start getting darker after cloudy going into an amber color.

like evryone said, amber is couch lock.

when they have the slightest tinge of amber is when i chop..

good luck again,

my question is, when do you start to flush, im midway thro week 7 of bloom, and my tricombs are 75%+ cloudy, so with a full week of flush, i should be right on target.....
whats the general opinion on this....?

found about 10 mature seeds in each of my plants (all but one of my plants actually). Guess one of them hermied. Damnit. Seems to have effected the last two weeks of growth. The LA Woman gave me 5 dried ounces (this one had NO seeds). The rest each gave me about an ounce. Major difference.
