Say i was to have a 250 x 250 foot area full of plants. The river is 500 feet away and slightly down hill. There is no power and extremely isolated...

Is there a pump that runs off batteries or something? Any ideas on how i can get water to these things? Even I have 2 months to figure this out. Thanks..

PLEASE HELP!!!

Run and buy a solar water pump. The best solution for your current problem. You will have other to deal with, but for now ...Solar Water Pump. Bing it. Don't google it. lol

if you get an inverter you can put deep cycle batteries in a rubber maid tub then charge them with your car and jumper cables when you go out there. plug the pump to the inverter the inverter to the batteries and you will have water

if the pump can make it on jus solar power...most are only 12v with little to no amperage and i doubt a solar powerd pump with 12v will make it up hill 500 ft and then another 250 ft sq'd to water the plants...IMO....is it a gradual incline or steep? u might find a solar powerd pond pump and find one that pumps at least 2x's your height of incline

thats kinda what i was thinkin....maybe 2 or 3 deep/cycle-marine batteries a nicely built tote with wheels on 1 end and run the inverter!!

I saw this sick solar panel that was made to hook up to a car battery and charge it.
I didn't see if it was able to charge a deep cycle battery but it was sick none the less. was only $150 at costco last summer.

those dont put out all that much power and you'd need to hook up more wires. i think they take something like 8-10 hours to half charge a car bat. maybe running more than one would do it.

Solar powered pump? Your all joking right?...You think a 12v pump will irrigate over an acre of land? I highly doubt a 120v pump would even be enough...Feel like carrying 10 batteries out to your plot?....your only realistic option....gas powered pump....5hp would do....swap out the stock fuel tank with a 55 gal drum.

my sump pump 115acv works and it pumps well over 100 yards on level ground...and thats after is pushes up 4 ft! you can run that loud ass pump or a generator and a pump if you want n get everybody attention that might be hiking with 250 yards...but id stay on the quiet side if it was me !!

I'd rather lug 20 batteries than run a loud ass gas powered pump the batts are a one time haul, gas power is full time loud

Hey everyone, thanks for the replies first off.

The total distance is no more than 10 feet up, and its gradual. Here are some other issues..

1. no car access.
2. this place is in the middle of nowhere.

There is no hiking in this area. There is no chance of anyone being within 20 miles of me. So thats ideal. Still would like to not have any noise, just because anything is possible. Also i would like to here a helicopter from far away lol.

I have hear of some people going up stream as far as the need to go to be about 15 to 20 feet above the farming area, then sinking a gas can or something to the bottom of the river. I guess this is supposed to pum water out due to the pressure. IDK???

Im thinking a gas powered pump thats small is my best bet. I need to be able to get it there on a quad.

You said it...pumps well over a 100 yards on level ground.....If the elevation from the river to his plot increased by 1 inch for every foot of distance....your looking at 41-42 feet of "discharge head" or the height the water needs to be lifted....If you know of any 120v pump that can do this, I'll hand over my Millwright's C of Q

One time haul of 800lbs of batteries?...And then what your going to have to haul in to charge them?

Obviously, the pump will be loud but like I said before...its the only real option thats going to get the job done.....

I guess i could get like 1,000 feet of tubing and run it up river. I think that would work, and have a lot of pressure. Hmmm a lot of work lol.

Solar is like 5k i think thats out of the question. not worth it ot me.

The place these plants are going to be has the greenest healthiest grass all summer long. So obviously the dirt is moist from the river. I just am not sure how much that helps.

This does work...but you need a large drum and you have to sink it in fast moving water. Open end pointed into the current. Problem is after time the drum will fill with sediment and you no longer have water.

Im guessing that if i sink the drunk, it would only be around 20ft higher than the plants? I have no idea how much pressure that would be though....

I guess a small gas powered pump is overall my best option given my terrain and situation.
