Going to be buying a grow tent soon as taxes come and I've been reading up on all of these differnt types of lighting out there. WOW The plus/minus are close to even, with comprimises.:wall:
Me personally, I'm leaning towards a 400w HPS:fire:
Now I would love to hear from some "Ganja smokers" out there what their pref. is:weed:

sorry, the one I've got my eye on is 3'x3' I think it's 6'6" tall looken for 6 plants in it and additional lighting is understood but primary is the consern
The vent fan might be a cool tube lighting style. But that is subject to change, being I have yet to buy any of it (taxes)

Hey bro I have a 2'x4'x6' Sun Hut brand tent which actually measures about 3.5'x5.25'x7'. I would highly recommend this. I use a 400w cooltube inside. Great minds think alike huh? lol

If you stick with the 400 watter heat won't be as much of an issue, but believe me it WILL still be an issue. I have a portable a/c unit that I back up to the tent to keep my temps low since I'm in TX (right now at least...). A 600 watter will get you better buds, and the 600w unit is overall the most efficient of all the different size ballasts.

With a tent you're going to need an input fan and an output fan, and don't go any lower than 6". 4" ducting is a waste of time. You need 2 inline fans with a tent or otherwise you'll get the 'balloon effect' if the airflow is not stabilized properly.

Anyway, there are a lot of options out there and I've tried several of them. I would never again buy any brand tent other than Sun Hut. Not only are they the best made with the best dimensions and the most exhaust ports, but they're also the cheapest out of the name brand tent manufacturers. And remember to get the silver-lined model.

Here's a pic of mine that sorta shows my setup in the tent. You can see the portable a/c in the background.

Good tip, actual size is concerning cuz, its going in a closet that isn't but a few inches bigger than the one I got bookmarked. The one you describe is perfect size thank you sir

Are there any other suplemental lights that one should also be warry of, ie generic "sale" bulbs (flood light)

I wouldn't ever worry about 'supplemental' lighting. If you grow the right way (don't mean that in a bad way) you'll never need it and it just wastes even more energy and makes more heat. Just make sure you spend what it takes to get good quality equipment and you'll be set for years. I've never had to replace parts like my friends that cheap out on stuff do. Go with fans that are a little bigger than what you think you'll need, and of course get 2 fan speed controllers (one for each fan). Get a good cooltube (mine is made by Hydotech), and buy a good quality bulb (around $100.00 for a 400w). If you can afford it get the new SunPulse bulbs especially made for digi ballasts. Oh yeah get a switchable DIGI ballast! They have dimmable ones out now too for added flexibility.

AND DON'T USE MIRACLE GROW!!! lol
