Will this suffice for a room 77 inch by 55 inches with 6 plants

A bit overkill, IMO. A 6" fan/scrubber on a controller should be plenty for that area.

only reason i went with 8" is because my 600 watt light has a 8" air cooled hood wasn't sure if it needed to be compatible with the carbon filter or not

Much cheaper to buy a couple 6" to 8" reducers than getting the larger fan. Its up to you and both will work but the cost would make me opt for the 6". Carbon scrubbers are rated for a max CFM, so if your fan is less powerful than that, you'll be good to go.

cool cool i found a 6" 600 watt Air coolable MH/HPS light so now im all set i guess, but before i go ordering supplies from ebay's htg store i will go to the hydroponics shop see if they don't have everything i need
