Im new to this site, I was wondering if anyone can help me with a problem I've been having? When flowering at about wk 3, I notice that the plants start showing a pale green colour to the leaves. Then the lower fan leaves start becoming yellow with brown spots. I have hard water so I thought i had too much calcium, so I purchased a reverse osmosis system. Im thinking it might be nitrogen deficiency but im following the adv nutrients calculator at a moderately light feeding program but I still see signs of nute burn! Some plants also have red stalks while others of the same strain dont. I foliar feed epsom salts and they got better for a few days but then they got shitty again! Can anyone HELP! Thanks
5x5 grow tent,
1000 watt hps (2feet away from plants),
6 inch vortch fan-400 cfm filter,
pro-mix hp,
advanced nuts..Micro-grow-bloom,voodoo juice,big bud,bud candy,overdrive.
PH 6.45/temp 74f
strains are: candy kush, super silver haze,ak-47,white widow)

Well, nitrogen deficiency can almost be expected due to the fact that as they flower, they take up a lot less nitrogen. that is why you see yellowing leaves starting from the bottom up....It's an N deficiency. It's usually not a real big deal. As long as your flowers (buds) are looking healthy, you're ok. My plants do the same thing. The lower leaves start to turn yellow around week 3. By week 10 most of them have a bit of yellow to them. BUT, my flowers are huge and healthy with excellent THC development, and that's all that matters to me at that point! :-) I attached a couple of pics of the same thing with my plants, the night before I harvested..

Good luck,
-S

Most decent nutrients have chelated calcium in them, so there shouldn't be a lack of calcium in the grow media, all that might have happened is that the hard water stressed the roots and stopped the plants from uptaking nutrient including calcium etc. Sometimes a good flush with distilled water and a few days rest are enough to put plants back on the right track.

ive been using the advanced nutes calculator and that seem's not to be working that well..considering the fact that im getting nute burn!i feed them twice with nutes and then just water.Any other recommendations?? So what do u guys think of advanced nutes products??? its my first time using them!

Look at what your plants are telling you first, then go by any formulas. Like any nutes when growing in soil type mediums, feed, water, feed, water.

Exactly. The recommendations by the fert manufacturers are generalized, aimed at covering every single strain of plant, which isn't possible. Use them as a guide, then adjust according to how your plant reacts. It's fairly uncommon to get perfection in the first run of a strain, so it usually takes a couple grows to get it dialed in.

These guys have this other stuff covered pretty well, so I'll leave it at that.

It's nice to see that are ppl out there who dont mind helping .... I will take what I have learned n apply it to my next batch. Have any of u guys grown any of the strains that I've listed above? If so, any tips, tricks or any of that good stuff :-)

Something that I've found works well with any new nute you use, use about 25% less than the calculator says you should.

Why? That way, it's easier to spot things when they're going wrong and turn them around. If you're not sure how a nute is going to act, there's no sense in just diving right in and hoping for the best.

You really want to ease any plant or strain into the nute system. This is going to help you learn how to manage the nutes, and it saves you money since you're not using as much.

Does certainly sound like a nute burn though.

I know Advanced Nutrients users have talked about this happening, but the products are really strong and a lot of people don't realize it...until something like this happens.

Go lighter any time you try something new. Better to be safe than to be on the boards looking for help. LOL
