Hello everyone! ive been a RIU member for some time now, mostly behind the scenes, and i know that if i have any questions regarding mj, rollitup is the place to be for answers. id love to hear everyones input on this subject matter.

this maybe a little over my head but i was recently offered space to grow medically with a club. the head of the co op sounded serious on all of the occasions ive talked to him about it so im sure hes not yanking my chain.

im basically on a mad scramble right now to gather equipment to prove to the guy i can do this. Ill be talking to him TOMORROW to work out the details of what kind of space i will be working with. they will provide an electrician, security, etc to help the grow be a success.

i currently have 1 400w hps and 1 1000w nextgen hps. i want to trade those 2 for 2 600w hps. im sure its nots impossible but will probably be a hassle to do. along with gathering equip, i have so many questions about the medical grow business that will determine the stuff i get.

how many plants should be grown to supply a club at the minimum and at the maximum? the grow op will have more equip installed in future. im starting with the bare minimum right now (2 600w hps at the start with the addition of more 600w hps). this will be a HYDRO set up. as for which hydro method to use, its still up in the air.

how many plants could be grown exceptionally with a 1000w hps or 2x 600w hps. should i keep the 1000w hps and add more 1000w hps or are the 600w more efficient. ive read some post on lighting, and i know there have been countless discussions about it which i will find, but if people want to save me the trouble, id really appreciate that too ^^

ill keep this updated as much as possible and let you guys know what kind of space we will be working with. again, id love to have as much input as possible. these are the first steps to completing a professional grow and i cant do it without you guys!:peace:

So you have 2 600's? 600's have the highest lumen/watt and thus are the most efficient. I would rather have 2 600's than 1 1000 because two sources of light allow you to one, cover more area and two, penetrate canopy better (less shade).

18 square feet 2x (3x3).

Well you could put in 36 clones in a SOG, on ebb n flow trays, with no veg time. Or you could put in 18 plants, on ebb n flow trays or buckets and veg for 2 weeks. Or you could put in 9 plants in ebb n flow buckets and veg for 1 month.

There are many different ways you could utilize this space. The above really only applies with horizontal lighting. If you went with vertical lighting you could probably grow 60+ plants in a staggered coliseum style.

36 you SOG, 18 you SCROG, 9 you FIM and LST. Some strains respond better/worse to different growing styles. Some make good trees others don't.

It's about how well you are at the game not which game you play.

thank you two (taking everything into consideration).

i went to the club today for more info about the space given. i thought i would be growing in a room next to the club but to my suprise, they told me they would provide me space in a warehouse:!:

the space for flowering is 15x15 with a 12 feet high ceiling and theres 2 other rooms, both 5x5 with a 12 feet high ceiling.

with this new info, would multiple 1000ws be the way to go? i finished reading gypsy's first tree grow and got inspired. im thinking id have a combination of trees and sogs. probably sog at first working my way to trees.

as for veg lights, i have many many 42w cfls. ill definitely need to upgrade to a mh or flouro. will flouro be good enough to grow trees or are they only really meant for early clones? how many watts will i need for 18 sog and 4 trees in the flowering room and what kind of lights/lumens/watts etc.. would i need for the veg room to completely support all the plants growing. i guess those are my biggest questions for now.

given the same opportunity i would go with multiple 1000's. i love mine. i have 2 over my 8 plants and the growth is astonishing! and iv used 400's and 600's also but ill never go back at least not to flower. in ur case i would do like 6 in batteries of 3 spaced for optimum coverage and penetration 12' ceiling u could do some nice sativas mmmm haze lol hope this helps

ive decided to go with an ebb and flow system using 5g pots to hold each plant. here is my question.

what are the benefits of sticking a 3.5g pot into a 5g pot? from what ive read so far, i found that its better for flooding and draining but does it make that big of a difference? im guessing that it also helps the pumps from getting clogged.

what i want is for the benefits to outweigh the cost of 15 extra buckets but i guess thats on me to decide. if someone has any experience, your take would be very much appreciated :]

Hey Jedi, there are a lot of ???'s you need to ask and find out about before determining your grow. As your club is giving you the space to grow, they are naturally going to have certain expectations of you. Get a hold of them and find out the following:

How much bud do they expect per month?
Is a single strain acceptable?
Must it be organic or are ferts acceptable?
How many plants can you legally grow?

I doubt a club is willing to be shut down because someone decided to grow 1000 plants SoG style instead of a bunch of trees.

My thoughts in regards to this though is to go with a bucket style E&G and use 600w bulbs hung vertically in columns of 2. You would only have the bottom set on during veg but when you kicked into flower and the stretch hit, you'd fire up the top ones.

You have a 12' ceiling and little floor space. Take advantage of it and use the space fully.

Anyways, I have to go. I'm subbed so answer those and I'll try and help some more.

If your plant limit is high enough you could easily coliseum the hell out of that. It would yield you a lot of bud man. A lot. Especially with high ceilings and 1000 watters.

As to your question about buckets. I grow with buckets. I don't see any directly advantagous things from having a smaller size bucket inside. I have always used the same size bucket and it rests on the rim. My grow I have 4 5 gallon veg setup and going to have 4 10 gallon flower setup. If you do it right you can get amazing results. By the end of this 2 month veg I should have 96 cubes feet of vegged Kush. Here's a photo at about 6 weeks.
