Cool Tubes Or Air Hoods ??????

which ones the best on reflecting light? i personally have 2 600 watt cool tubes going and a 400 watt hood refector, i always thought cool tubes would put out more light to a bigger space because they are open and should use the walls as reflection any one else agree?

I think hoods are better because they distribute the light over a rectangular area better. cool tubes look like they would be better for a long narrow space. Im sure as long as the grower knew his setup hed still get good results w either 1

Are you using cool tubes? what kind of fan are you using to vent? And how many plants can you do at once? I was thinking about geting a 76x76x76 also

I took the metal part out of the cool tube and attached a hood to it.

I like cool tubes because I can keep them very close to my plants, it also really does cool the room down a lot if installed properly to a good venting system.

Air cooled hoods 1000000%. Cool tubes SUCK!!!!!! The light distribution is complete bullshit. And they have almost no cooling advantage to hoods as long as your fan is decent.

Ive had both and they both do the job. To say cool tubes plain suck is BS. The hoods can get hot spots where as tubes don't as much. Most tubes have a reflective plate made of the same material as hoods. There is not much difference other then rounded glass instead of a sheet. I still prefer hoods for overhead horizontal light because I like the shape and they seem more balanced.
I agree that vertical tubes are kick ass if you are capable of cooling off another HID.

I got a cooltube and it fits my needs just well!

Best of both with a melonhead. Straight shot airflow with a hood to direct the light.
