Three Weeks Flower: No signs of flowering.

So tomorrow will mark week three of flowering for my babies. I started with 8 plants and am now down to 5; I had three males. I now I have 5 lovely ladies, 2 indica plants and 3 sativa plants. My two indica plants are budding like crazy. However my three sativas aren't showing any signs of budding yet. Just wondering if there is anything I'm doing wrong or if it's just a waiting game...as i know sativa plants take longer to flower (usually...this is bag seed) The plants appear to be very healthy and are outgrowing their cabinet. My setup is as follows.

12 CFLS at 2700 kelvin. Puts out a little short of 20,000 lumens.

They are on a 12-12 light cycle...pretty sure i got it sealed up really well for light leaks.

They are being fed tap water ph'd at about 6.3 mixed with FoxFarm Tiger Bloom.

Temp is about 83 with the lights on...mid 60's with the lights off. Humidity is 50 percent. *** I know that's quite the temp difference but they have been grown like that since seed and appear to be happy. Let me know what you guys think!:weed:

need more info. like pics. I'm sure if your indica dominants are in bloom then you know what your doing. Sativa flowers longer, takes longer for it's life cycle how ever should start to flower roughly the same time.?:neutral:

Yes, that's why this is a little odd. They aren't growing any new nodes and they definitely showed sex the same time the indica's did. But they just aren't budding. I'll get some pics up tonight.

This is not that unusual at all really. Indica plants generally tend to sex faster than sativas. You can tell though when your sativas are getting ready to show sex when the begins to grow irregularly. Instead of two even branches you will have on the left and a few inches above it one to the right.

From my experience, 3-4 weeks is not unusual for a sativa that you are trying to force into flower. The good news though is they should be showing sex within the next week or two.

I agree that the most likely cause is just that sativa dominant strains tend to have a longer flowering cycle, which could explain the seemingly late budding. I'll check back when the pics are up to help give you some a more definate explaination.

The indicas started growing actual buds about 5 days ago. They are in full bloom now with buds growing everywhere. I counted 12 bud-sites on one plant not including the cola :-P. The sativa plants did show sex already and have little hairs coming out of major nodes...but just haven't started budding yet at all...still just all leaves.

My apologies...learning something new everyday. Must be a common newb mistake because i see people "add" up their lumens with cfl grows all the time on here. Well then i'm running 12 cfls at like 1600 lumens a piece.

Not many peeps know about that one, still, thats a nice about of light you have. more than enough for some nice bud.

Good to know! Yea the plants seem to be happy. The Sativa's are probably 4 feet tall or so! ( they stretched alot once they hit flowering) I will get pics up tonight! What do you think about the sativa's not budding yet? Plant problem or waiting game?

An obvious practical caveat to this point comes when using multiple low-intensity light sources. Notice how I stated that the lights were at the same distance? A practical problem with CFLs, for example, is that while you can get 27000 lumens from 10 x 42W CFLs, it's difficult to get them close enough to make them useful. If you have them in a line, for example, as I've shown below, each successive light is further from the meter, and the effective increase will be reduced. They still add, but according to the 1/d^2 rule, so having a bulb 2cm farther away will yield diminishing returns. On the other hand, this can be an effective way of distributing light, whereas with HID you need to distribute the plants around your single point light source.

Ok, here are the pictures...when the lights came on tonight i see one sativa plant starting to grow buds. The sativas are first in the list of pictures I have, followed by my two indicas. Let me know how everything looks!! :)

they look good, i think you just need to wait a while on the sativas. i'm not an expert by any means but they just look a little behind the indicas which look great.

Nope not at all, They look almost identical to house my arjan's haze is growing. They will fill out, just takes some time :mrgreen:

How long is hard to say, I'm aiming at 90 days , 60 for the pure indica's. Lookin good! keep us posted!
