sup fellas i just bought 2 6" fans for intake and exhaust in my 2x2x3 box. i have stripped the red and black wires on both and also on my adapters which will power my fans. my question is do i hook up black to black and green to red or the other way around. my adapter wires are black and green. is green positive or negative in this case?

thanks yall for the info. @ hydrotech, if i just turn the fan around wouldnt it blow instead of suck? i thought it just depended on which way the fan is facing? was i misinformed? also in general does anyone know where i can read up on some info abot wiring fans and what not? i dont want direct answers, i want to learn for myself, but i need a push in the right direction! any links or info would be greatly appreciated.

I think that's backwards, an a/c fan will reverse, a d/c fan will only work one way but you won't hurt it. That's been my experience.
so then if its a/c fan can i run one as intake and one as exhaust? or do i need a d/c fan and a a/c fan? i have 2 a/c fans. but i can get d/c if needed.

Dude AC means alternating current,DC means direct current.I had a degree in Electronics before I was 18.

Yes, but it will only work one way, just turn it around the way you want it.
Google d/c computer fans for ventilation or something like that. Choose the links that sound like grow forums. You may just get something on RIU. Good luck!

If you have adapters, then they are d/c. You better figure out what you have.
If you connect a d/c fan to a wall outlet you will need new fans right now.

Sup, Im a certified electrician. I can help. It sounds like you have yourself a pair of muffin fans. D/C voltage sounds like, so I will base my answer upon that .

When converting your D/C fans to A/C( current) you will need the transformer/adapter.

You will need to connect the BLACK wire from the FAN to the GREEN wire on the adapter. Connect RED from fan to BLACK on the adapter. Bingo!

If you can only mount the fans one direction, then swith up the color combo on only one of the fans and youll have an extraction fan and a intake fan.

Good Luck, SSbongsmilie

switch up color combo? like black to black and green to red? does that just spin the fan in the oppisite direction, thus making it an extraction as opposed to an intake? i figured i could just flip the fan around facing outward pulling air from the room. or is that wrong?
