HPS quit. Got to finish with a combo Will it work?

I'm 10 days away from harvest and I get home and one of two of my 400 HPS is flickering and it didn't come on. It's on a switchable ballast so I pluged in the MH. So now I have a 400 HPS and a 400 MH going to the finish. The first pictures are of the AK48 which will be done in about 10 days. The other strain is ICE which will go aonther 2-3 weeks and fatten quite nicely. Anybody ever have this happen and have to switch to a MH during late flowering? I can move the two lights around a bit to rotate them, would this work?

In my opinion i think both spectrums will be beneficial as this is what i usually do during flowering 1 600 hps & 1 400 mh just because the plants can still use both anyways. In late august & september in the east outside plants still have both anyways outside so why not. Nature hasnt failed but it sure as hell could warm up here sometime soon. Had snow & ice since i can rember this season. Guess the gods forgot to pay the bills. LOL

its more about the light cycle not color. you may not get the results you hoped for . but they will contune to flower.with mh only. i had a plant flower when my cfl bulb it went out. it was just a full spectrum bulb.

I still think you get more resin by running both colors in flowering & a little tighter bush but it seems sometimes most posters already know what they want to hear & do not want to hear anything else. So that is why maybe some people on here do not want to answer questions when everybody knows it all. Their is already on here about the post " WHATS UP WITH RIU" i guess everybody on here thinks the work is already done.

Well folks, I don't know it all when it come to this thing we do, even after being on this earth for over 5 decades. I love to learn and I live to learn. Anyway, back to my post. I guess now I have the opportunity to see what both a mh and hps can do late in flowering. The proof will be in the pudding. Peace!

Well they seem to be liking the mh hps combo for now but it's only been two days so too early to tell. I can say this thought. My buds on my ice plants that still need another 4 weeks are still getting fatter, longer and fuller. Time will tell.

Your plants will love the full spectrum. Best of both worlds :) I think its a fabulous Idea :hump:

I am way too new to growing to say, but I bet the MH/HPS combo will have good results. It would probably be more ideal if your combo was 1000/400 or 600/400 in favor of HPS or some ratio like that (at least for flowering), but 400/400 is probably fine too. Cannabis seems to be a very resilient plant!

PS - I'm not sure if this graph represents what cannabis uses, but it looks like a decent approximation

hey looks great. I'm new to growing, but I've been reading day in day out for about a year now and am in the process of mastering my own techniques as everyone is different. In my readings i've found tons of info talking about the combination of both lighting spectrums is actually ideal, but they also say that it needs to be in favor of the warm spectrum in flowering (HPS) and oppisite for veg. Just google it, you might have to search a little bit, but sooner or later you'll find some helpful info. I will also garuntee your girls will be fine. Good luck!

I like a full spectrum MH and a HPS for flower. Both is best. Thats the only way I roll!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
