Possible Deficiency or overnuting?

Im a liscensed care giver and patient and this is my first grow

Some backround information.

I'm doing a passive wick system using fox farm ocean and a hydroton layering system. Veg'd for 4 weeks plants look great. Two weeks into flowering and leaves are spotting and yellowing. I gave them half dose of big bloom and a quarter dose tiger bloom. Resivour was nuted along with a hand watering.

I don't think i over nuted cause I was nuting under the recommended dosage but who knows.

I have attached pics. Let me know what you think. First two are yesterday before nuting and the last two are from today.

Look's liek theyre lacking N to me, Althou you dont want a lot of N during flowering as you're only 2 weeks in id give the next feed as 1/4 bloom and 1/2 strengh grow nutrients, The following feed 1/2 bloom and 1/4 grow nutrients.

Hey,

I feel ya, can't tell you how many times this happens to me. If you ask me, on the grand scale, its bad genetics,..genetics that won't tolerate any ph fluctuations.

With that said, it's a tall order keeping those leaves green, as you're seeing. The best you can hope for at this point is to slow it down, and get it to stabilize and stop spreading, the leaves that are already yellow are going to fall off, (don't pull them early). As the leaves on the branches start falling off, you kinda lose those as bud sites, or the buds are poorly developed.

Treat a seperate gallon of water the way you normally do (I'm assuming you use a ph-up). Let it sit for a week, retest it and see how acidic it has become once again. You'll get false, unstable ph readings if you nute and ph-up right away. That same acidic mix is sitting in your soil, and since some of the touchy strains won't like it, you have to baby them bitches.

you need to be using your veg food at least 3 weeks into flower or up till your 'stretch' ends before you switch over to bloom food.

for hydro you want a complete food like dyna-gro foliage pro 9-3-6 for veg, and dyna-gro bloom 3-12-6 for bloom

your plants are definitely not getting enough Nitrogen right now. if you keep up with that bloom food you will continue to lose your leaves. there is nothing wrong with switching back to a high N food to maintain the foliage

Would it help if I empty out the resivours and switch back to veg nutes for one week? Should I flush them with fresh water? Would this help curb the yellowing?

Nitrogen deficient to the max. Follow the feeding schedule week to week.

I think I figured it out. I was using big bloom as the main flowering nute when this is just an enhancer according to the grow store guy, I should have been using tiger bloom as the main nute for flowering. So I switched to tiger bloom as main nute and hand watered using grow big to perk them up. I will post new pics in a few days to show progress.

Yes, due to ph lockout. It's obvious. He's nuting it, so there's no lack of nitrogen(or anything else), the plants obviously aren't absorbing it. Telling someone to add more isn't going to fix it.

youre missing the point dude. you will still continue to see the leaves drop off if you continue to use any type of bloom food. you need a food designed to produce/maintain the foliage.

I'm with punk on this one. If you have a nice grow bible it will tell you punk is right.pH lockout is causing the deficiency. another thing to look at is what extra micronutrients are you using, You will need some cal-mag for sure. most don't have enough in them to get your plant balanced.

wrong. Yes he is nuting it but with the wrong NPK ratio. The leaves are not getting enough Nitrogen. any bloom food should be a 1-3-2 ratio.

As you've probably already figured out big bloom won't cut it as a stand alone fert unless you use a lot of it. Tiger bloom is majorly acidic so you will definitely need to adjust the pH. Give them a good dose of veg nutes and you should see improvement in about a week. I doubt you're locked out due to pH but you definitely want to watch it when using tiger bloom. Even when growing in soil this stuff will fry your plants if you don't bring the pH up. :weed:

IF you follow their feeding schedule, you'll fry your plants. ph balanced or not.

They're in the business of selling fertilizers, of course they're going to suggest you use more than you should.

What are you talking about? I've followed FF feed schedule for my last 4 grows and have not fried one sinlge plant. Do you know this from experience or are you just assuming? :roll:

No, I'm not guessing or assuming, I'm going from past (and current) experience.

There's tons of people here who won't EVER use the recommended amounts and like I said in the earlier post, genetics has some to do with these problems too.

And if that's not true, explain to me how you can have two different strains, treat them both the EXACT same and fry one strain, and other strains thrive.

ATM, I have northern lights and white widow growing, the NL is rugged as hell, the fucking WW frys if you sneeze wrong.

edit: I'm sure the NL I"m groing could easily handle the FF schedule, infact maybe it's just my bad luck, but it seems like the NL is the only strain to date I've had luck with. I've tried a half dozen strains all from banks.
