Heat Issue - Any Suggestions?

Here's what I have going right now and would really appreciate any advice and help...


SETUP

I have my grow separated into 3 sections.

- Section 1 is my cloning section with T5 fluorescent.
-Right next to it, I have a 400w I'm using to veg. Also have a carbon filter that sucks the air through the light and up and out of a vent in the ceiling. Also have ozone in the ducting.
- I made a 3 1/2 by 8 foot box I made for flowering. The height inside from the floor to the light is 5 ft. In here I put up (3) 600's with a filter on one end with the fan sucking the air through the lights and out the other end and up through the vent with it a separate ozone inside the ducting behind the fan. In here I have a CO2 controller on one end with the CO2 being pumped in from the other end.

- I put up all of the ballasts outside of the box and am running the 600's inside the flowering room using 220 and the 400 with the fluorescent are running on 110.

PROBLEM #1 - With the 3 lights going, the room heats up to 104 * plus...I turned off 1 of the lights and the temperature went into the low 90's....I had (2) 6inch fans in there and added those small A/C units which brought the temperature down to 87....I took out 1 of the lights and switched the remaining 2 to cover the most space. Now the temperature is in the high 80's, so I brought in a bigger fan and it brought it down to 85. Any suggestions on bringing the temperature down some more?



QUESTIONS

- One of my biggest problems is the heat. I don't want to run a small A/C unit all the time and have to keep filling with water every 7 hours. Any better ideas?
- How many should I put to flower to get the most out of my girls? I have 24 of them vegging, 2 of which will be mothers


- Are 2 lights enough for this flowering room?

Also, this is a secondary question but I know this gets put out there a lot, but what kind of yield should I expect with this set up? Soil is 40% Sunshine Mix 40% Fox Farm 20% Perlite....Fertilizing 3 times and flushing on the 4th. They're all vegged out to about 23" average....

for your heat problem you can get cooltube lights ( do a search for it in google) basicly these lights have an extra glass tube around the bulbs, connected to a vent wich sucks out the heat comming from the bulbs.

If your breeding mothers, you want to give them space..

So I took out the storage and lowered the bed 3 feet so there's more room in there and I took it back to my old set up with 3 lights....Got 2 lights going now with a fan and it's stable at 81 during the day and 71 during the night....this works out great because now I can veg them out a foot taller and have 3 lights going during the flowering cycle....Since I'll have my 12 hour lights on during the night, I think I can get away with 3 lights with a small a/c unit....going to try it out in 2 weeks and will post the results....

Tall plants are trouble indoors...

About 3 ft is where you want the MAX AT THE END... otherwise you will end up with fluffy popcorn bud that was grown in the shade...

You need to dedicate a fan to your light's aircooling...

take a peek at this illustration by Al B. Fuct.. remembering that 99% of ops DO NOT NEED and intake blower... passive intake is just fine...:razz:

Oh and I run 600s too... each goes to a 3x3 ebb flow tray... I would not do any less than 3 600s in your space...

I do not know where you live, but remember that in the summer, night time running may not be as cool as you think. I'm not saying there is any problem with it, I run flower at night, but in the summer night time temps can be high in the summer.

I like your setup though. I wish I had that type of room available.

I can confirm this. Stay under three feet. More smaller plants topped correctly is the way to go indoors. Topping/pruning is absolutely essential indoors. Tall girls not only block their own bottoms, but also shade smaller girls. I try to get 4 main colas per girl and start to flower at 2 feet

You will spend lots of time making supports for taller flowering plants. They get weighed down and your room turns into stakes strings and twist ties.

I'll try to take some pictures of it today so you'll get a better idea....

I have them at about 23-26 inches right now and was figuring on flowering them starting this weekend.....I was going to have the light cycle at night, not just for the heat but also because at night, it would be the only thing running and wouldn't overload the breaker....besides, at nights, the rates are discounted which works out nicely...

Short plants keep ALL of the plant in brighter conditions...

Tall plants become shade farms...

For every foot farther away you are loosing intensity BIG TIME...

Keep them short... 3ft tall when DONE is where you want them...

that means flipping Indicas at about 18" and Sativas at no more than 12"... or using some kind of training method to keep them short...

Finally fixed this issue....I cut a hole in the wall and put the A/C unit outside with a 6 inch pipe/duct running in....I guess when the A/C unit was inside it was pulling the hot air and trying to convert it to cold....now I got all 3 lights going and the temp is stable at 79 during the day and 71 at night...going to start flowering tomorrow...Still gotta get pictures to post up...
