There's 2 ways to make fans silent. One way is to spin them slowly and this produces amazing db stats but even the latest akasa apache only hits 50cfm. Once you factor in very hot air and lightproofing/odour control this drops to nil.
Unfortunately these fans can't be turned up because they are already running at the max 12v.
You can also take a noisy fan and underdrive it by using an adjustable power supply to give it 6v. This will give more than 50cfm but makes the fan very quiet as well. It also has the advantage that it can be turned up to 7.5/9/10.5/12v if the temps rise, albeit with more noise. This means that when the summer comes and temps rise dramatically you can just turn up the fans and you can still grow.
I use normal zalman and thermaltake stuff for cooling with fan/voltage controllers, all my flashy expensive silent fans are still in their boxes.
