Silent PC Case Fans

Sup RIU,

I've been looking for some silent PC case fans for my stealth grow. Fans that are sub 20$ but are still effective.

What is everyone using?

I'm looking for a 120mm and a 60mm.

You're going to have trouble finding a fan that meets all three of your criteria.

Cheap, effective, and stealth: pick the two most important features and we'll be able to help you a little better.

I'm only using a 1.4ft^3 area so I don't think I will have to sacrifice that much to get 2 quiet fans under $20. At the same time though, I'm not looking for 3000 CFM fans. Maybe 30-50 CFM for the 120mm, no less than 20 CFM for the 60mm

I'd like the 120mm fan to have at least double the CFM as the 60mm. And both around 20 decibels or less.

Go to Radioshack and buy them there. They are $9.99 a piece, I have two of them. Check out my grow in my sig if you want to see pictures.

I get them online because local retail stores like best buy and radioshack have awful and overpriced selections. Try here and you can search by cfm and db level. If they don't have what you need, I don't know where would.

There's 2 ways to make fans silent. One way is to spin them slowly and this produces amazing db stats but even the latest akasa apache only hits 50cfm. Once you factor in very hot air and lightproofing/odour control this drops to nil.
Unfortunately these fans can't be turned up because they are already running at the max 12v.
You can also take a noisy fan and underdrive it by using an adjustable power supply to give it 6v. This will give more than 50cfm but makes the fan very quiet as well. It also has the advantage that it can be turned up to 7.5/9/10.5/12v if the temps rise, albeit with more noise. This means that when the summer comes and temps rise dramatically you can just turn up the fans and you can still grow.
I use normal zalman and thermaltake stuff for cooling with fan/voltage controllers, all my flashy expensive silent fans are still in their boxes.
Wanna buy em?
