how do i top my plants? and when is the best time to do so?

i let mine get about 5 leave sets then cut 3 off ,but time is not a problem for me(i veg for 2 months), i planted 6 seeds left 2 alone fimed 2 and topped 2 the ones i fimed are smaller and compact(about 4ft) the ones i did nothing to are not very impressive(there 6.5 ft ) but the ones i topped are crazy and there 6 ft too but have 6 top buds each.only 1 was male and it was one of the smaller fimed ones.each set of 2 came out almost identical to each other

this was my first grow i was testing to see what each does so you can decide what your looking for.for fimed what i did was cut the top growth with scissors for topped i cut the stem about half inch from the leave set.i tried to clone the tops with no luck.

lol...Yeah, that's why it's called Fuck I Missed. Don't feel bad - I tried that on 23 plants, and only actually got it on maybe three of them, I think? Went to topping, after that.

Careful with topping my friend was all fucked up faded and then he toped his plants but he didnt top it right.. he cut half the stem down leaving up just a stem as a plant.. it was bad ass

if you cut it below the bottom leaves you just killed it

yeah we knew that, we put those little cup umbrella things inside the stem so it looked like a plant and then we watered it and nuted it every week, we saw slight growing on the umbrella we saved up for Hps ballsats and bought a 150 watt hps for it also but it was still in shock being the same size after the slight grow

i cut everything but the 2 tiny leaves at the bottom off a seedling to see what would happen it never died but it never grew either i kept it and took care of it for a month before i tossed it.

I top it when it gets about 12 inchs tall by the 4th or 5th node and use the top as a clone and by the time clones roots and veg for about a week i have two similar plants ready to flower.
Pinching/cutting newest growth after 3rd/4th node is ideal method.
