Find some fox farm soil. no nute soil is just fuckin stupid u have to prep the soil before u grow in it,what that mean is you have to spend money on every nute that that soil should already have in it good luck with that and if cant find ff than get mg its better than no nute soil good luck bro.

Hey man, dont listen to this guy. HIs plants were probably doing exactly what he said they where, so what. Thats not gonna help you.

You have no signs of nutrient deficiency, so I really dont think your nute-less soil has anything to do with it. Nute issues are generally pretty obvious.

I would stick with the plan, as I already advised. I bet you see a difference in 1-3 days.

Thanks for your input. I'm really frustrated.

Pick 3: shows my setup inside the tent. And my lights are about 10 inches from the plants, and I thought (maybe wrongly) that with all of those light bulbs I had plenty of light and the distance is alright. I also thought because there is no sign of stretching, distance is okay. Wanted to avoid heat.

Pics 6 & 7: shows you all six of the plants I am asking you experts about. the ones in the red cups are another story .........

Pics 4, 5, & 8 are all of my biggest plant, and it's only 3.5 inches tall, and the canopy at the widest is about 5 inches across. It looks healthy, though.

Close up my other five plants look pretty good also, no stretching, good color, not thin and spindly, etc. JMHO.

FYI: the seedlings in the red cups were planted December 26, so they are 30 days old. And they also are growing slowly, but they are not stretching, they look okay, I have given them NO nutes only Hormex in H2O, and they are only 1 inch tall?????????????????????? They are in nute-less potting mix. What's up with this???

Please pile on with your advice and brutal criticism. :-(

Thanks very much!
what the fuck they are that little try to get fox farm big bloom to help boost the growth you pot are fine your soil sucks u are not going to see nute burn because the soil is takin what it lacks just change soil and and big bloom if u want to go real cheap get mex bat gauno$7 thats it and just be patient now u are way behind it might even be the light but i dought that, and if soil cant breath like not enough perlite ect that to leads to stunting,so just start with new soil and go from there.:leaf::-P

i say get better lighting, i dont think nutes is a problem its suppose to make it grow faster.......

maybe you have too many plant and not enough light?

who were you before you became woodstock fan?
Huh? If you are insinuating that I am a previous board member who just changed my name you are wrong.

This is my very first thread. I have been reading this board for three months ALL the time and studying. I have grown many plants and yard shrubs and even raised bed veggies, but never indoors growing herb.

I don't know what you are talking about.

2000lu from a T5? Sounds like a regular T5, not the HO. Personally I would get the plants roughly around 4-6" away from the bulbs. Pots have more then enough room for roots at this time. What is the humidity? I have a couple plants that are a few days younger than yours and they are bigger. And that is just in soil, no nutes at all.

Thanks for the help/support/encouragement. I lowered my lights to where now they are within three inches of the tops of the plants. We'll see.

The potting soil: I bought it at lowes and I admit it is not high-end stuff, but I would have bought the most expensive they had, except it all has nutes in it. I wanted to know what I am feeding my plants. This was the same combination of peat, sand, perlite as is in the other high-end soils, but did not have any chemicals in it. It may be fine, or it may be a problem. I don't know. BTW just put sand on the top to control gnats and give some light reflection.

Hard to raise/maintain the temp up to 80. I'm in my unconditioned basement. I only added that fan you see this morning, because I thought maybe ventilation was a causal factor. What do you think?

Humidity has been real low, though, but after all my reading I thought it does not really bother anything if you keep watered and not in flower stage.

Did you catch what I told you about those babies in the red cups: they are controls: no nutes at all yet. Also slow growth (day 31). Can you comment?

Maybe lights too high. We'll see.

Many thanks. Gardening has in the past been relaxing to me, but this not fun yet

You should have alot more growth in the newbies at day 31. I would have to speculate at this point there is a common denominator to this problem. As in the lighting, humidity, soil, something. The bigger plants are looking about 7 days old give or take. Im amazed to say the least.

Let me re-read some of your info and take another look at those plants before I say anything else.

Ill get back to this in just a sec...

Alright Im back.

So I would suggest finding yourself a low dose of starting nutrient. Miracle grow sells one, so does shultz and other Nute companies. Something like this would be just fine:

http://www.amazon.com/Miracle-Gro-100556-48-Ounce-Quick-Liquid/dp/B000RNB3BU

And once you get it set it aside. When you need it premix a gallon in a seperate jug at 1/4th strength. MJ burns easy, so always use 1/4-1/2 strength if you are using regular non mj nutes.

Anyways, a good stimulater would help, but lets just try the tap water and better lights for now.

People will talk poorly about using nutes that arent specific to MJ, but really do you think people had MJ nutes in the 70's?

MJ specific Nutes weren't popular untill recently, and until then people understood that organic matters and compost were the variables and chemicals where easy. Nowadays people overthink the additives, and dont let the plant do its thing the natural way. Atleast that seems to be more common.

Anyhow, to fix your plants I stand by my original diagnosis.

If 3 days pass and shit hasnt started happening, try a growth stimulator geared towards transplanting plants. As long as its for transplanting, its a stimulator.

Use 1/4 strength of what it says on the bottle, never add directly to the plant and you will be fine!

Im sure we will be talking more when you swap to the flowering room, 600w lights are no joke. If you are having problems now, you should really start studying because shit gets alot harder in the near future.

OH YEAH, next time use scotts soil. Even 7ph, advertised on the bag. Good stuff, has all the right elements to get your goods growin, cost effective too. Then let your plants tell you what they need. Dont go adding shit for no reason, feed them regularly and if they need something specific learn to diagnose that.

Greg Greene makes a great cannabis bible, and V2 is even better.

Id check that out, chapter 13 has a great problem solver section....

The only other thing that would make sense IF I am wrong is that your pots/cups arent draining correctly, and you are in fact overwatering. You seem pretty positive thats not happening, so lets not think thats whats going on.

TO WATER: stab pinky 1-1 1/2 inch in the soil, if finger is dry water. If not, or even moist in the least then dont.

Good luck hippy!

Thanks for everything.

I can get the Scotts. Maybe lowering the lights will do the trick, but I have put four seeds into soak tonite and I am going to germinate them tomorrow in a paper towel. Meanwhile I will get some of the Scotts, and at least I can compare the soils.

My plan was to just get these plants up to about 6 - 8 inches and then put them under my 600 watt MH in the flowering room until I am ready to flower, then change my bulbs to my 600 HPS. I have three brand new cool tubes. I am equipped quite well, and I can apply just about anything I need, but this current situation is blowing my mind.

Oh yeah, I assure you I have plenty of holes in those cups; good drainage. And I use well water that has pH of about 7.3 so I adjust down to 6.2 when I water.

Also, been using a root stimulator Hormex. This is an old time known product used for tomato seedlings. Google it. It should have everything needed for root growth with babies. Go figure.

What in the world ................ ????? This is just not fun yet. But I'm determined to grow myself some weed :bigjoint:

Well give them a day or two with the lights closer and the regular water.

If nothing else use a 1/4 strength dose of the stuff you already have. Sounds like the same stuff.

Anywho

good luck chief!

Looked on the bulbs and it does say T5 HO Grow. I also called HTG Supply where I got them and they confirmed that they are High Output.

Maybe they do need to be closer, that seems to be the consensus here. They were about 10 inches from the large plants and about 16 inches away from the real young ones in the red cups, so that may cause a lack of intensity. We'll see, I moved them down within 3 inches of the tops of the larger plants.

Thanks for your input

I read through this thread again, I see that you are using 2' blubs, not 4' bulbs . Ok, that explains why the lower lumen output. (I should have caught that when you said 32x32 tent)

There is nothing wrong with the type, or amount of light that those plants are recieving in veg.

Be carefull getting your lights too close - I veg with similar lights, and they get pretty warm.
I aim a fan between the top of the plants and the light to keep it cooler on the plants.

I would guess that your low night time temps are at least partially to blame.

I will second that, can you get a small heater to keep the temps over 70 at night? while it sounds like enough light, you could rule that out by firing up that 600 mh and setting a few under it for a few days.
are you using the soil straight from the bag? I screen mine using chicken wire w/ 1/4 in holes -you would be surprised how much bark & shit is in it. I also mix in alot more perlite than it comes with to ensure good drainage.

your lights are fine i use those and they work great ... in 40 days my shit would be 2 ft tall...

its your nutrients dont feed them anything..

bosson26 is right on....
these little guys dont need anything at all until they get 6-10 inches then feed them only once every third watering until they take off thats the problem for sure ....

YOUR LOVING THEM TO DEATH ...

LEAVE EM ALONE .... DONT TRANSPPLANT THEM OR SHIT UNTIL THE GET BIGGER ..

if you must fuck with them evey day m ist them with some super thrive ..

and add superthrive to your water its b1 and it will boost them up with out burning them up.

good luck

out of 40 days i am willing to bet they were in those 10oz cups you were talkin about for a little too long, i just finished a plant that i did this to. it got about 10 inches tall and was weed from top to bottom. i described as a "weed stick".. growth can be stunted from being root bound. hope that helps end the debate.

What about going back to 24/0 to keep the temps up? I've been on 18/6 since I rooted them; would it hurt anything to just go 24/0?

true I only potted them into the 1 gallon black pots at day 33, and you are right they in those same red 10 oz. cups before. But what about the babies? Tthe older ones grew better in the red cups than these.

I'm just wondering if having my light 10 -12 inches from the plants have caused this. I should know in a few more days, since I have lowered them to about 3 inches from tops.

Thanks, guys for your interest and feedback.
