I can answer your question with out being an ass...
Yes you can use your aquarium. Youll want to cover it with aluminum tape or a couple layers of duct to to prevent algae growth.
What style of grow are you wanting to do? you could use it for dwc, or just as a res. for a drip or ebb & flo sys.

ugh i give up i'lll just build 4x4x4 box with some reflective plastic sheets with 2 200 watts flourscent(spelling) lights and some quiet strong ass fans i got that'll cool em down.
better? fuck! haha i'lll have this on the corner of my garage? helocopters wont get the heat off the wall right?
btw this is for my next grow. my current plant is preflowering.

Have you looked into DWC? The fish tank would make a nice res. for it. you could put a couple plants in it and scrog them, in a 4x4 area with a 400 watt hps you could get 1/2 pound on a nice grow. would be very simple and cheap to make this setup. I'd be glad to help you out.
