I have 4 blackjack plants that are getting smelly. I have a 6" fan which vents into my house. I bought an odorsok recommended by the local hydro store, it didn't work. I have ona gel inside and outside the grow room. I rapped the odorsock with activated charcoal filter sheet made for HVAC intake. Still smelling. So I put 18oz. of activated charcoal for an aquarium in a mess bag and put it in the vent which filled it top to bottom. Effectively sealing the vent with 6"-8" charcoal forcing the air through the charcoal . There are now citrus air fresheners by the vent also.
Came home tonight walk in the door after being out for a few hours and there it is. Not strong but its there. Am I expecting the impossible here? I mean I really want is for it not smell at all, nothing!
So please if your filter works please let me know. Money is an issue. I'm a fixed income, medical user. So keeping cost down is important. An I sure can't afford to buy anymore cheap made shit that doesn't work.
Heres a picture of what I'm using currently.

The key to scrubbing the air is to have all the air in the room exit through that filter. Sometimes you need to play around with the air pressure. If there is more air coming into the room then going out you will have odor leaks because air is blowing out under the door or through other cracks. If more air is going out through the filter than is coming in the you will feel air being pulled into the room under the door. This is actually what you want because you know no air is escaping without going through the filter. Ive setup a 6K watt room of OG kush with a canfan 100 scrubbing the air going out and there was absolutely no smell right outside the door. Remember the key is you want all the air in the room going out through that filter. Good luck.

Thanks, my filter runs 24/7 and all the air is being pulled through the filter. It pulls warm air to the room from my house during the night and warm air from the room to house during the day while the lights are on.

What hymem said is all you need to know. I use a Can-75 filter works great, can't smell anything outside the room. You need to keep your room under negative pressure to ensure the odour doesn't migrate outside your room. Don't try to scrub or recirculate air threw the filter either, you'll never eliminate the odour since its constantly being produced.

Make sure if you buy a filter its rated for the same or more cfm as your exhaust fan. If the filter is too small it will put excessive load on the fan and reduce your desired amount of air exchanges per hour.
