Ph of soiless mix?

Just wondering what the Ph of a soiless mix of Canadians peatmoss, perlite, Dolimite lime, perlite and a wetting agent should be. I understand that soil soil should be at 6.5 and hydro at 5.8, but what is my mix considered and what should the ph be? Thanks

there are to many variables to "guess" the ph of your mixture. Buy a ph tester, its one of the most important tools youll need to grow.

i had the same question my self awhile back im usin foxfarms light warrior soiless mix, the bag said to water with anywhere between 6.0and 7.0 but the lower the better he said and its working for me just finesome say use hydro ph but i use soil ph to water

i guess your using sunshine mix #4 or something like it...... the best ph for it i found to be in the low 6's.... 6.2-6.4 is pretty much ideal..... the ph of plain peat moss is really low thats why they load it up with tons of lime to bring it up some

Yea I guess it is similar to promix and sunshine, its called Fertilome Ultimate. I tested the Ph using one of those test tube testers and it showed that it was neutral. I guess they use the lime to increase the ph of the acidic peat in the factory. I have alway grown hydro from the start, and I don't understand why the ph should not be the same as hydro if it is an inert medium (may be wrong here).

out of the bag closer to 7 than 6. As stated get a pH tester 65$ for a cheap one. Pour water through the mix and capture the run off, stick the tester in and read, adjust as needed. 7+ pH you start to get lockout.
