Before I say anything, I ahve never grown before, so if anyone here is gonna talk shit about me "not knowing anything about cannabis" im sorry. I just want to ask this simple question.

My stems are a little weak and are hunching over. They have been growing for a little over a week. And this is only their 3rd day in 18/6 lighting (i believe thats called... vegging state?) How do I strengthen these stems a little to prevent them from toppling over each other once they start getting bigger. Pics are available upon request. :)

you should always post pics when asking for help, but in this case just use a small fan blowing on the seedlings. they will sway back and forth and the stress will strengthen the stem. Also if you have the light too high they will stretch more and make the problem worse, so lower them as close as you can without burning them (put your hand over your plants and if it is too hot for your hand it is too hot for your plants). Good luck

first off if you could post pics it would be easer to help you w/o pics its just a guess at helping. they could be streched or? you can try an osolating fan blowing on them how close is your light? (whattype of light?)

Thank you. I just looked at some other threads and many others just said a fan. Just wanted some more opinions before I go out and buy a fan. Thank you very much and happy toking.

always post pics just for future refrence bro, you will get alot more bumps and quicker responses :)

Your plant seems still young it shouldnt be hunching over already so im quessing your plant is streching.

What kind of light are you using?

and you should put any fan the rotates side to side blowing on your plants, after a while you can really start to see the differnce!

WELL,

GOOD LUCK ON YOUR GROW

What type of lights are you using and how much. One of the most problems with weak stems that first time growers have is stretching from lack of light. If your using Cfl"s get them a few inches from the top of the plant.Hid lights height can vary due to good air circulation or light cooling anywhere from a few inches to a foot or more.If there so weak and wont stay up try cutting straw lenghtways to support it until it can recover.

I agree with the answers above, you are most likely be using CFL if you are growing the first time. CFL is great for growing for personal use, no expensive set up and not high electricity bill. So, lower the light down or add another CFL, have some air circulation. You can use a 80mm PC fan power by most 12v DC adaptor, they works great if you have a small space.

From sprout you should be having an oscilating fan blowing on them to simulate real outside wind. This breaks the stems kind of like working out your muscles, making them grow thicker and stronger.

i just thought i would throw in that you could also replant them, but plant them deeper this time, like up to the first set of leaves along with doing everything everyone else said .. replanting them won't hurt them and will get that weak stem down in the soil and help hold them up more..

racerboy is right to replant

what i normally do is start about halway up in cup as plant grows i fill in more soil in about a week cup fill to top and plant has half its stem cover in soil and is sturdy try it

this is the hardest stage of growth if it makes it through seedling its on it way

the rest is light distance and not to over water

good luck
