they should already be under lights from day one dude... don't know why you wouldn't have them under any. if you went from seed, as soon as you plant it, you put a light over it...that's how it works. Keep your light about 1 foot away, more if it's too hot. don't want to burn your baby.

Your pH is too high. if you are in soil, get it down to about 6.0 to 6.2 that's a good number for soil grow. If hydro, then 5.5 is perfect.

The leaves can turn yellow from a number of reasons. If you are in soil, you may be using a soil that has no nutes in it. If that's the case, then feed your plants with 1/4 strength now. If hydro, do the same, 1/4 strength.

My last piece of advise to you is this: Start doing some reading asap! Search the newbie main page for the "how to" threads and learn!!! Growing is NOT easy. If it was everyone would do it. Hell, a lot of people do grow, but not all of them are successful... And that is usually because of a lack of knowledge. Take some time to read and learn. Figure out what you want to accomplish, set some goals for your grow and figure out how to achieve them... that's the best advice I can give. Trust me, reading the "how to" threads is not boring. It's fun to learn about this great plant that we all love. It's even more fun when you understand what it takes to grow quality smoke, and then do it!!! :-) I really hope that i didn't waste my time here and that this is not falling on deaf ears... We'll see...

Good luck to you, bro!

One last thing that I would advise. Don't bother with 18/6 light. Go ahead and use 24/0. It works fine. Plants grow when the lights are on, not during off time. They don't need rest during the vegetative period, so just run your lights for 24 hours.... Having said that, I'll say this: This is another of many subjects that you need to be reading and learning about. Especially if you want to become a successful grower!

I have read alot of these thread and most of them say the best light cycle is 20/4
which means 20 hours of lights on and 4 hours of lights off
cause they do need a rest

no they really don't. They don't grow during a dark period. pot is a C3 plant. look it up... :-)

light periods are like ass holes every 1 has an opinion on whats the best light cycle...some like 18/6 some 20/4, and some 24/0

24/7 for the first two weeks will give you alot more growth then 18/6 but after the two week mark u wont see the point of 24/7 as the growth is not as far and your light bill adds up

that's very true...my point is though, that it does NOT grow during the dark period. Dark equals no photosynthesis...Light does. So, if the lights are on, the plant is growing. Always!! No harm done to it either... Roots grow too.. and all is well and happy in plant land.. heheh.

But Hey.... To each their own. Do as you will bro, I'm sure it'll work for you...

i follow the same routine and it works, 24/0 for 2 weeks under 2x 55 watt cfls then 18/6 for around 4 or 5 weeks under 600 hps(although i just got 400mh that i want to use with the 600hps), then 12/12 till harves under 1000watt hps, this works and works well. ive read so many variations on light cycles but i think the one i use is probably the most common, maybe there is better but i can promise u that this one is effective and proven. and yeah like the guys have said ur p.h is high, be gentle bringing it down ur palnts are young, as for nutes a quarter strength is good but again uv got a young plant so u must be careful. happy growing and watch out for gimmick growing tips, if u want to play around or tweak established ideas thats fine and will help u as u learn more but i would strongly advise following the tried and tested methods at first until uv got the basics all down, that way if it fucks up u know enuff to spot it and sort it.

i use bio bizz products: bio-grow and bio-bloom, reasonably cheap and effective , shop bought plant foods such as generic tomato plant foods and baby bio will work but there not really designed specifically for mj. lotta peolpe like canna products but theres bloody loads of options and with them a whole fuckin mountain of prices, like i said about gimmick growing methods, nutes are the one area that u gotta watch really closely, there are an endless supply of companys and products that are gonna promise u the world if u purchase their product. 90% bullshit. dont go fuckin near them. buy a grow nute anda flower nute fromone the well known companys( like bio bizz) and u wont go wrong, leave all the fancy shit till uv got all the basic knowledge learned and then maybe try a new product or two, and try it alongside a product u already know, that way u can compare and contrast. watch out for the robbing bastards out there, fuckin snake oil salesmen.
