*Strains for NORTHERN climates?

I'm at about 42 degrees north, midwest. Could anyone recommend something mold resistant. I'm going more for quality over quantity and I'm looking for something new, I'm familiar with early girl, early pearl etc already. Kind of overwhelmed, :wall:as most varieties are bred to suit longer summers and warmer climates :(

Any suggestions?

yeah, a lot of automatics are bred with C.Romulan, Those are naturaly from russia I believe, where they face wierd light, and harsh temperatures.


Most seed banks have some sort of guide or information on temperature ranges for thier seeds

I thought about auto's, but from what I've read the potency and flavor is crap compared to regular strains. :\ I'm trying to stay away from auto's.

My suggestion is to look up on the farmers almanac and look at your light schedule for the summer months. Then veg appropriately indoors (if you are able) and get your ladies out no later than the longest day of the year (June 21st summer solstice.) That being said, there is no reason you couldn't pull off some killer strains including some pretty powerful hybrids out there that can flower in 8 weeks! I do not see why you would need to limit yourself to autoflowering strains, although they may be ideal for Northern climates, so is an Indica dom pheno... Good luck bro ~~~ Dude

Depends on the strain lol. As far as I know, I can't harvest any later than the first week of oct. I'd like to find something that finishes by then, but it seems as though auto's aren't worth the money and everything else is a 'played-out' indica that nobody grows anymore.

Good information, and I agree, but is there any way you could suggest any reputable strains and/or breeders? I'm really more concerned with mold, because it gets humid towards fall.

how is early girl and early pearl for potency? i am thinking about growing them along with mendocino maddness from thseeds and biddy early from magus genetics and sweet 105 and irranian short season from dr.greenthumb. im around 45 north. any feedback about early pearl and girl would be awesome. thank you roots

Sweettooth, something I grow, Can withstand high humidity. Its bred for indoor and out, and has great yield, and a well respected high. finishes early, and is low-odor

check into barneys sweettooth.


there is a strain of BC bud, but "BC bud" also refers to point of origin, somepeople get the two confused.

Well, it seems in the 90's they were bred more, but not many people grow them anymore, as newer better strains have come out since. I can tell you that early girl and early pearl are a breeze to grow, but they are pretty average smoke. As for Dr. Greenthumb, I considered buying endless sky, but the prices are a joke, I'd rather smoke shwag than pay $20 a seed!

So your looking for a mold resistant strain... Hmmm, I think a Kush strain if right up your ally, anything really that has some real tight bud formation's that won't allow moisture in. As far as breeders go, I would suggest Attitude and see if you can find something you like there, Neem Oil works really well with mold prevention too.Good Luck Bro~~~ Dude
