Hello R.I.U :bigjoint:

Right really need some advice on how to set up my vegtable box.

the box is made out of wood and its::
4ft x 1.75 x 1.25

Unfortunatly this is all i have to work with right now due to stealth reasons ;-)

So what i want to know is how would you "pimp" that box out ??? if it was you that had to work in this space...........

what kind of light you think i could get away with ??

thanks

On the cheap, go to Fred Meyers and buy a fire proof blanket (they have a Mylar layer) and line the inside walls with it. Also go buy some CFL's at 6500K, for that I would say two 30-40w bulbs would do you real nice! make a hood or "lampshade" out of a turkey pan by mounting the CFL's inside the pan. If you can cut two holes, one about 6" above the pot height and another at the top, on the box and mount a 120mm computer fan to each. Intake on the bottom exhaust on the top. Other then that your good to go as far as basic "pimpage" goes haha

thanks for taking the time to help me, but i aint really on a budget here.hence "pimping" ;-)

i plan to use real equipment mylar, inline fan with carbon filter etc .... i will also be growing in soil.

thats what i meant as in what light i could manage in the space i have safely. i would rather go with a hps tbh.

is it to narrow for a hps ?? as in wasted light ....

Okay good point haha. Well kinda depending on the bulb and hood you make, that and the space is not that tall for an hps, the bulb has to be far away compared to CFL's and you only have 4' of vertical space to work with which isnt much for an HPS. other then that expect the plant to double +6" in size once you begin flowering so just time your plants height to the season it should be in since you have vertical restrictions... Remember to calculate the total height of the light fixture + how far the bulb needs + the height of the pot, then subtract that from your 4'... your looking at a 3' plant probably less. CFLs work great! I use three 40w 6500K's in the "summer" and three 2700K's in the "fall" and I get great yields every time. and you can always step it up with florescent tube lighting on the sides and four 100w bulbs since you aren't worried about cost that much... your plants would be juicy too!
Either way its my opinion you keep things semi-stock if you will because its such a small grow area i'd wait to get something bigger before i put out the big bucks but that's just me
Good luck!

My 2 cents...

u could make an HPS werk.. 4 foot tall?? right???

mayb a 150 or 250, or if u REALLY got sum cash to drop go LED, but fill the box up with them,
check out HTGsupply.com or sum of the gardening online stores.

then if u seal it u could use Co2? mayb a lil bottle and (or big i aint sayn not to) a regulator to fill the room up every hour or so?

OOOW a lil hydro set-up?

im just throwing ideas out, didnt really read the whole thread neither.

didnt read the whole shuBANG, but could u put the light on the outside of the box??? like cut a whole(a square one) in the top and set ur hood on the top of the box that way the hood is (USEING a sealed and glass covered hoods) on the out side (aka the heat) and u could just set the plants on books or blocks?? then just fan the hood, and for a 250 watter u wont need a big fan

Acualy in idea i just had (to get GREAT color spectrum) use a 150 watt witch r cheap, but still strong, Yet they arent really hot (i use one for veg) and then sum T-5 floros in all the corners of the box, thats will help with color spectrum, just check out them in dual spectrum and i think ur plants will LOVE it! do sum shoping!
