I have heard shrooms can be a "water drug"

does anyone agree that it will enhance a trip to be underwater?

It might sound dumb but when the idea eating mushies or maybe lsd and scuba dive on a coral reef came to mind, It became part of my bucket list.

I understand the dangers of being underwater with an altered conscious or reality, but my interest strongly overpowers any fears. I don't plan on going too deep anyways and a spotter will be swimming with/in sight of me.

I've eaten shrooms 5 times prior to writing this, but I will have more experience by the time I actually get around to doing it.
I'm thinking the two options are the caribbean or hawaii. I could either use a mini-breather (30 minute tank) or get certified and use a normal scuba tank.

p.s. has anyone ever swam upside down near the surface of the water with goggles? if so please relate because I think that would be amazing while tripping

your gonna get eaten by a shark, or you will think you are lol. think of the crazy shit you could see. i can see this being very awsome or really bad like one of those "hey did you hear about that guy who tripped on shrooms while diving and......" you can finish that sentence with the many things that can go wrong

i agree with shepj that it sounds badass, and i would imagine the visuals would be once of a lifetime.. but saying that, i am not sure that it is the brightest idea i have heard, no offense to you of course... i say this cuz it sounds like you have zero experience with diving or scuba at all firstly... i may think differently if you had been an experienced diver before you had attempted this.. i know that your not going to try it on your first dive and all, but still, i would think that there could be alot of things that could go horribly wrong with an unexperienced diver not in his right mind attempting a dive...
it does sound badass and all, i just dont want anything bad to happen to a fellow riu'er.. i have no diving experience whatsoever, so maybe someone who has some could chime in, but it just doesn't sound all that safe to me... saying that, i'm not usually one to be saying something doesn't sound safe and am usually a risk taker myself, just like i said, don't wanna hear something bad happened....
best of luck on your quest though... have fun, and be safe..

well I've actually been around scuba diving since I was young I just never got certified. I've used a mini-breather before. My father is certified and I would go with him when I was a kid and use his 2nd breather. I know about roygb, controlled ascent, and somewhat how to read and use the gages. BUT I know that sometimes that a trip can make one lose perception and normal concepts that would be simple other wise. so I guess I'll just take it light with the dose to make sure

EDIT: I thought about bringing milk thistle tablets with me in some kind of water proof case.

I've tripped in my pool with the scuba gear during a rainstorm. The water drops were like swords cutting down into the water. It was freakin amazing. Wish I still lived there cause I got a sack of some badass fungus still left from New Years. Definetly want a straight person in there with you just in case!!!! PARTY ON!!!!!!!

Lsd and water oh yea. I had such a fun trip a long time ago swimming,,but I was in a big bowl of water,a pool,,,still refreshing and intense. Not sure I'd feel all comfortable with tanks and all that shit on,,,just get some good googles and have a blast!

I would say to have someone who knows how to help you assuming something bad happens (like your oxygen tank gets fucked up or something comes loose, etc.), besides that, I would imagine it would be very beautiful and amazing! Probably a once in a lifetime experience that if you can do, you should do!

Hell yeah def don't puke twenty feet underwater and get your oxygen breather all fucked up and be too out of it to know where the surface is. Otherwise I can envision a colorful drown

super awesome Idea!
Im a really avid surfer Im 20 and have been surfing since i was about 12. I get stoned and surf all the time and sometimes I get a little uncoordinated in the water but nothing i cant handle. my question is simliar to yours. do you think surfing while tripping on a really mellow 2 ft/ 3ft wave day would be smart or be a disaster. sober surfer and possibly a gay life jacket just incase i think im surfing clouds or fire or something. cant wait to trip tomorrow, gonna be a fucking blast!

I don't scuba dive but I have done a lot of snorkeling..which I think would be a better idea over scuba diving. Theres no heavy gear, only fins, mask, and snorkel. Jump in anywhere you want and explore. Remember to bring sunscreen.

I swam along side a huge sea turtle for almost half an hour in Hawaii..it was magical, i could only imagine that experience while tripping.

I jumped in at night with my flashlight to do a little night snorkel along side the beach and saw squid, lobsters, all kinds of weird sea cucumber creatures, and out of the depths a large reflective mass swam my direction, a 7ft tarpon came up and swam right next to me within reaching distance..scared the shit out of me. my heart would have exploded if I was tripping then.

Haha I've gone down itchetucknee as well. It was awesome. My brother and few friends were tripping but I smoked and ate a couple with them but didn't really get the effects because I ate a bunch the day before that.:wall:

I'm actually a master scuba diver...

it goes: Open Water Scuba Diver > Advanced Open Water Diver > Rescue Diver > Master Scuba Diver (after that its professional)

I don't really know what to think about it, I mean it really depends on how many your eating and how comfortable you are in the water...

Let me tell you right now that rotating and looking up towards the surface will cause the water to rush into your ears (very uncomfortable feeling)

And I dont know what you plan on calling shallow, shallow for me is like 60ft. I would say stay at around 30 feet, so if something does happen you can get to the surface quickly CESA [controlled emergency swimming ascent] without having to worry about the bends, any lower and youll probably be taking a safety stop (3 minutes @ 15ft) to decompress a little

As for the coral, you may not find that too interesting... And coral is very sharp and when you get low to it you may snag your regulator hose or some other hose and rip it from your mouth, and you have to be pretty comfortable scuba diving to be able to be okay with a regulator being ripped from your mouth to calmly turn upright and do the arm sweep to grab your gear.

You may just have more fun on a sand bottom, playing with air bubbles, dropping all the air in your BC (Buoyancy Compensator - the jacket that holds onto the air tank) and running around the bottom jumping in the air, it's like being on the moon... If you keep a neutral buoyancy, you can run, jump onto a rock and do a front flip and then land on the sand lol

For tripping though I think a night dive, with glowing creatures and the plankton that flash green when they are disturbed in the water (plankton are all in the water so when you swipe your hand through the pitch black water you see a trail of a bright green flash follow your hand, its really sweet.

The problem with a night dive is drifting into other sharp things or touching something sharp, or sinking into the abyss (jumping near a coral wall, planning on exploring that, when you get into the water and sink your light dies, and then you cant see anything around you but black, then you dont know if your rising or falling, or how deep you are, its happened I had to get someone at 110ft and sinking to 800ft)

Just PM me if you need any advice/ knowledge, Ill probably be checking back to this thread though too

I plan on going pro (Dive Master) soon :P

edit:

And yeah I've been diving many places including Maui and I think every main carribean island.... I'd go carribean, that Pacific water gets cold, I dont remember what time of year I went but they were wearing like 5mm wetsuits

If you can get some shrooms and money over to French Polynesa, god, that would be amazing. That water is like bathwater and you can see hundreds of feet under water... And the animals? Just as spectacular

The carribean also has a good amount of shallow diving... Like a mile off the some island's the water is still around 35-40 feet deep
