Can't find molasses in my country - what else can I use?

I can't find molasses here in costa rica - is there any sugary substitute that will work?

in the uk we call it treacle. but we also have golden syrup , i dont know if it would work just the same but it is a pure sugar derivative so its cgaunna be full of carbohydrates. watch out 4 bugs though, they love the sugar.

You can use brown sugar, as brown sugar contains molasses. Get the darkest brown sugar you can - the darker the sugar, the more molasses it has.

Why are you using the molasses in the first place? Ive noticed a few mentions of molasses but have no idea what people use it for.

its a pure carbohydrate and its supposed to give the plant quite a boost used at the end of flowering.

I wouldn't say supposed to, it REALLY packs on the extra weight and brings out wonderful tastes in the final smoke.

i only say 'supposed' when i havent done it myself, old habit about qualifying answers i suppose. hey gpd do u think treacle would work the same , i got a tin earlier and i'm gonna give it a go but i would prefer some1s input

If molasses is kind of like carbo load from AN , I wouldn't use it on young plants , I did and I noticed it darkened there roots (hydro) and stunted there growth. And this was at 1/2 streangth, It also fuck with your PH more goes up.

Hmmmm... Interesting .. I can believe that the roots would get darkened. But, stunted there growth eh? Wow, Thats why I like this forum. Knowledge is Power. Thanks for your input.

I added 2 tablespoons of brown sugar to a gallon of nute water and fed them toady with it.

I am a total noob but I have read on RUI extensively about molasses and there is a giant ass thread about it - but most people give molasses during flowering stage only and do it right up to the end - doesn't need to be flushed.

Brown suagr is only 3.5% molasses so I wonder how effective it will be - im going to try and get some molasses next week but brown sugar will have to do for now.
