They can be very expensive in terms of initial cost and you still need quite a few of them for most grow setups. LED Grow Lights.com Home Page seem to have the best on the market, those LED Grow Bars are bs, don't invest in them. From my dealings with this company they are very good about answering questions and for custom sales quotes. I just wish I had the cash to invest in them, but my HPS works just fine and at a fraction of the cost. If you are concerned about stealthing your power use then LED's are the best but be prepared for sticker shock.... Their 100w LED Kit, an effective replacement for 400w HPS lighting costs just over $1000 and requires growing space of at least 4' in length to accommodate the track lighting. This can mean great coverage but a limited amount of lumen for certain spaces. Hope this helps!

I would also suggest buying from this company... Other alternatives are making your own or buying pre-made "flat" led arrays...

but on ebay prices for 100w kit is about $150-$250.
why you're saying it'd cost over $1000?
and still - are they the best for the purpose?

LED posts do exist on here.On youtube there are a few videos of LED grows. The cost to get them is real high right now and verdict is still out on them.I emailled htggardensupplies but have found over the years if you ask something he doesnt know or doesnt wanna answer he will just ignore your emails.

I'm growing an entire grow from seed using led and drip system, I love the hell out of this! the real key to growing using led is the correct nanometers. im using 70-10-10 red, blue, orange. The 70 red needs to be 630 nm not 660nm. From seed they grow like weeds. they have come down in price. I can get these lights but need to order 5 or 10 minimum. 90watts.
The only thing and i mean the only thing i dont like about the lighting is so direct so you cant grow off to the side it has to be directly under it.

some of us are on a limited budget, but if you got that much to throw around you might as well go with mh/hps, or cfls at least.

they are more upfront but over time with energy and bulb savings and way longer life it will be legit......i hope.

i would go with mh or hps but i dont want the heat, electric bill, bulb replacement, extra cost of ventilation and odor control, i think heat causes majority of odor...

LED are great for a personal grow! if i was selling mad weed i would use HID fosho...
