1st cabinet setup...any input?

So here are a few pics of my setup so far....it measures 30"H x 40"W x 14"D

I have 2 trays that could hold 3 plants each but I will prob only do 2 per tray. Each tray has a bubble disc on an air pump. I am cutting two 5" muffin fans in the left side and a 6" inline fan out the right side with a carbon filter. I am waiting fro a 250 watt hps/mh ballast with both bulbs for veg and flower. the light will be air cooled. I plan on doing a scrog to maximize lightroom in such a short cab.

At what height should i put the scrog and at what grow height should i start flowering cycle so i dont run out of room?

Any input / feedback would be great as this my 1st attempt.... Thnx:weed:

No one has any idea how high to put screen?

Those fans aren't going to cut it.

If you don't have to do a stealth grow you could cut the top of the cabinet so that the light drops in flush the inside panel. You would save almost a foot doing this. It would be a little ugly but you could build a false wall on the outside to raise the cabinet for better looks...

You will have some height problems as is. A SOG would taller I think than a SCROG. Just do a hi plant count and trim your growth so you only grow the main cola. Indica strain for sure. After a few days of veg flip to flower.

I'm rambling.

sorry i admit i did not read your whole post at first. 250w will work fine in their. I have 400w hps in 3 1/2' x 5' x 7'. temps stay 80 deg F.

so should i even bother with a screen? And i think i would rather drop the trays through the bottom than cut the top out for the light..... but is this even necessary? whats the min. distance from plant to 250watt hps? if I was to put the screen 9" above the trays, how close to that can i get my hps? Also i can add a couple more fans if need be...

Putting those res' underneath will help a lot. I really feel a 250hps is going to leave you asking for more power. 400w is where the fun begins. But with your height issues you have to be careful.

My 1000's are 18" - 24" above my canopy now. I would think a 250/400 could be within 6" and be fine.

Whatever you decide to do I would flip your plants to flower in a matter of days. Rather than having those smaller fans, buy a $130 6" inline fan. Hook that up to your hood. That will suck all the hot air out of your hood and into another room. The suction will be plenty strong that you won't need an intake fan. Just a hole around the base or middle of your plants. You will now have a passive intake set up.

The force of your exhaust fan will suck in air.

I don't see the need to do a screen if you are going to do a SOG method. High plant count and grow just the main cola. Read up on so you can see how to trim accordingly. You basically trim the plant so that it only grows the main cola. No side branches...nothing else. You can hit a Half an O per plant with 600w or a 1000w. You might be able to hit a quarter O per plant doing this.

OK...so after careful consideration I have scraped this cabinet as a flowering cabinet...I built a cabinet 4'H x 30"W x26" deep. basically the same setup but way nicer cabinet. I'm still going to use the 250watt HPS/MH
Two 2 1/2" intake holes on the left side and ill run an inline fan from the back top corner and probably through the attic and roof vent. or carbon filter..I will decide that at the flowering stage....
Just waiting for my light to show up and then im gtg.

Nice. Much better. Turn your other cabinet into a veg cabinet. You can mount an 8 bulb T5 in there.

Nice cabinet.
