Is it bad that I want to go to war?

I have no ideological reasons for fighting - my survival is the most important thing to me. You hear news about it, see movies about it, hear songs about it. I want to go to see what it is like. I mean, I know it sucks worse than anything, it is a primitive act- BUT I want to see suffering like that - I know it will forever change me.

Agreed, but there are many engagement issues like poverty, slave labour, revolutions and extremists to name a few..

Well... good luck.

Those middle east dudes are fucking harder than any American gangster.

So go to the nearest ghetto, roll your windows down, drive slow, loiter at gas stations, to prepare yourself for the war.

Once you have reached American gangster status, then behead a few motherfuckers, hold up signs in a foreign language to a video camera and put it on youtube.

Now you are fully ready to fight in Iraq, or Afghanistan.

But I've heard a few bad stories...
Of course, this dude that came back, he was glad he went to fight. He ended up getting shot and fucking up his leg, but it's not like he's immobile. [As in, the definition of 'disabled' is entirely fucked up]

[His service was based entirely on a plea bargain... he walked from a meth charge for enlisting.]

But anyways, he was an 'American hero'; killed 4 of those 'sand-niggers' [in his words]

But they were near some village, and a little girl started running towards them... he shot her in the fucking face... she didn't even know what she was doing... he shot her, she fell down. Dead. Then she blew up.

And he told me he watches that in his head even when he's awake he gets those flashbacks.

Of course, he told me this over rails of his free oxycontin that the government pays for, in the house that he rents with his full pay that he is going to still receive for some time. He is made is all I know.

You want to be a pawn for greedy politicians?

Live your own life
No, I want to experience war and come out alive. Being an athiest, it would be a great test of conviction - I would find out in short order if I believed in God.

I think it would help me understand geo-politics better as someone who can appreciate the juxtaposition of war, and peace with my own experiances.

You don't have to visit a war torn country to see suffering. Visit any number of countries (US included) and you'll find it.

I think it is b.s. too.

But there are 41 armed conflicts going on all around the world right now. Seems like a lot of people feel this is a legitimate means to get your way.

A contradiction in terms you are Atheist and ALREADY are unbelieving of any god..I doubt it will give you as greater understanding of geo politics being a footsoldier in the US army as it would do to research it..wanna go 2 war go it is your decision

lol it doesn't look good..
I really meant: I want to see that side of humanity as someone who comes from great privilege.

It is like when Siddhārtha Gautama left his perfect life to see suffering. It changed him and it changed the world. This is seems to by first step in my own personal enlightment. You can't appreicate the heat without the cold, the sweet without the bitter, the ripe without the spoiled.
