Thanks guys! My mom could make it out of there, but if she does, it's going to be a very long time. (As in months... many, many months.) Her entire body is failing. Try to fix or help one problem, another is exacerbated. We have to wear scrubs and gloves, not to protect her but to protect us... she's got a super bug (kind of like MRSA, which I've had for close to two decades, but it's a different one), and the infection is systemic. Then there's her liver, kidneys, heart, brain... this is all just the tip of the iceberg. And she's only 57! (I've said before that my family's genetics suck. I wasn't kidding.) Although the hospital is only a ten minute drive from here, I can only go two or three days a week, for about an hour tops each visit. The time in between is spent recovering. I want to be there all day, every day. But I physically can't do it. At least she of all people understands the struggle, and she keeps telling me not to "overdo" it... but how do you not at a time like this? How can I think about aches and pains and limps when she's going through so much?

Started harvesting my Blue Hash last night. I got three branches trimmed and hung before I had to stop. Eight more to go. (Plant "A" is quite the sativa, and looks like it most definitely needs to bake a while longer. Plant "B" was just nothing but seed pods, and I chopped her to make room for others.) I expected the beginning my first harvest to feel like a tremendous celebration, but I've just been going through the motions with everything for weeks now. Just in this total daze, as if I'm on major drugs when I haven't taken (or smoked) a thing. My mom truly is my best friend, and watching her suffer is more torture than I'd imagined it could be.

ANYHOO! Took a few pictures the other night, before my camera's batteries died again. (They're rechargables, so they run out fast.) I didn't realize just how much the BH buds have fattened up, till I took photos night before last! I now have a BH clone in the flowering tent, and a WW girl. The BH popped pistils a few days ago. The WW just went in last night, so she'll be budding in about a week. BH and WW clones starting, as well as two Thai Super Skunk (reg), one Pineapple Express (fem) and one Moby Dick (fem) seedlings going... I'm on my way to a perpetual rotation now. My plan is to harvest one plant about every two to three weeks, and replace that with a new one going into flower. Should be manageable for me.

So far I've only made brownies or cup cakes, because the mix is out of the box, which is the only way I'm able to bake anymore... if it weren't for my George Foreman grill and toaster oven, I'd almost never be able to eat nutritious food! I've got a few "main dish" recipe ideas, as well as sweets, saved for after harvesting... things that are easy to make by normal people's standards, meaning quite difficult for me but doable on some days. ;)

Thanks hon! They smoke even better than they look! :bigjoint:

I don't have a "new" grow going, as I've just been continuing since I started this one... not the rotation I aimed for yet (thanks to a few males throwing a monkey wrench into it), but it's getting there. Three plants in flower right now (2x BH, 1x WW), with four more vegging and ready to go when I'm feeling ready to add more to my harvesting plate.

So far I've been really happy with the BH. It's a hardy plant that's grown quite reliably from seed and clone both (which is why I've got two currently in flower, and have a baby clone that just took root), the bud tastes delicious and is very smooth (still not one cough), and it's been awesome for my pain and insomnia! It'll be nice once I have a good sativa for daytime use so I won't be so stupid like indica makes me  but so long as I keep the dosage low during the day with the BH it's all good.

My son harvested the sativa I have going (mystery plant "A") for me. I'd told him that if he harvested it, he'd get to keep half. He liked that deal. Well, I not only wasn't happy with the plant's growth... the bud was just plain no better than swag, and certainly far from medical quality. The taste was literally gag-worthy! Suffice it to say, when he came to visit this weekend, I sent all of it home with him. It was good enough for him to get a good buzz, but far from anything I could use to treat pain. Oh well, it was all part of my learning experience. :D

Goes to show that genetics do matter! Plant "A" and the Blue Hash were grown side-by-side, both had the same amount of TLC, and they turned out so vastly different RE: quality. I'm not comparing indica to sativa either, as I like both phenos for different reasons. It was simply a quality difference, period.

Also had my son move my flowering tent to the garage the week he harvested my sativa, and I've now got my veg area in the hall closet. I'm preferring the plants out of sight. It's been a pain going to the garage to take care of the plants in bloom, but the upside is that my spa is also in the garage, so every night when I'm done working with the plants, I get into the spa and loosen up before coming back inside. Works out for the best really, because I wasn't using the spa as much as I should... it often seems like the hassle of going out there is more effort than it's worth, when it reality it's more than worth it. With my girls set up near the spa, I'm getting the relaxing relief I need from it. I just keep a towel out there now, cause I'm most often pretty sore after working on the plants, and it's so easy to just get into the hot water immediately. And being in the garage, there's 100% privacy... it's so easy to just strip down and hop in on a whim! It's also perfectly solved my low humidity problem in the tent, which now remains between 30% & 40%!

BTW, I don't foresee starting a new journal in the future. It feels like an obligation to post more often than something I enjoy, and I prefer just enjoying my forum browsing and posting! :bigjoint:

does that mean you will finally stop by my spots? :P
I'm sorry! I've been reading and following along, but I'm quite notorious for not posting very often. Actually, I haven't been on RIU much at all lately... too much life B.S. at once to focus on anything. Just came back to actually reading and posting a couple of days ago, and I've got a lot to catch up on now! :eyesmoke: I'll make sure to let you know I've been there more often. ;)

Well, I could've not had one plant that was a seed factory not worth growing to harvest, and another that was straight out crap... but all in all, it worked out just fine. Yeah, now that my plants are near my spa, they get to see me naked almost every night!

Thanks! It turned out a lot better than I expected it to, and I've been having a lot more pain relief than ever the last couple months! I've got my perpetual rotation almost where I want it. Gotta cut one down within the next couple of days actually, then every two weeks or so after that. Trimming is a real bitch though... hope my son makes it out here this week, so he can help me again. He enjoys doing it, and really enjoys the buds he gets in return.

Nice to have the help! What flavor are you cutting down in a few? I tried to run my room perpetually, but it was to much work, and I am debilitated much of the time. Keep it up.

Indeed it is! He may be moving closer to me in a couple months, and if we get the house we're bidding on we'll be a lot closer to him still... and he's always glad to help. Offers all the time. :D

I just finished cutting down another Blue Hash (I cloned that girl, really happy with her so far), and next will be my first White Widow in a week or two. My rotation isn't quite dialed in yet... had too much going on in life outside of growing to remember to shift one into flower on time. My goal is to have it set up for harvesting one plant every two to three weeks, perhaps even four depending on their development and, just as importantly, what my condition allows me to do. I'm allowed to have six mature plants total at a time, so two to four weeks apart will do it. Right now I've got five plants in staggering stages of flower, so I'm almost there! Honestly, it's stubbornness that's kept me going this far! Well, I can't afford to buy cheap buds, much less medical grade. But I took this on, and refusal to admit defeat is truly what has gotten me this far... I can be a very stubborn person; too much for my own good usually.

My rotation will consist mostly of BH and WW for a while, with a different strain from my box of treasures (seeds! lol) here and there when I feel up to wondering if I'm growing a male or a female. The BH and WW are both easy to grow (i.e., not finicky about heat, cold, nutes, etc.), and both finish quickly: 8-9 weeks. They also both have a much better flower to leaf ratio than the other two I had going originally, which makes for less pain while trimming... I'm always seeking the least painful approach to everything I do. ;)

I totally understand the whole debilitated all the time thing! Sick and tired of being sick and tired, I tell ya! Do you find yourself spending each day deciding what you're going to do ahead of time, having to choose between getting a shower or getting a load of clothes washed, and hoping that whichever you had to choose will be able to be accomplished at all? Being debilitated much of the time, I've a feeling you get it. If you don't mind me asking, what's going on with you? (If that's too personal, no offense taken if you don't answer.)

I'm just thankful that my son has been learning a lot about growing and is continuing to learn all he can, because my growing days are numbered and he's the only person I trust to grow for me... which he's already promised to do when I'm not able anymore. (He's interested in growing for himself, but his initial decision to learn was to help me and take over when that time will come.) It may be a month or it may be ten years, but when I need him to take over, he will. I love my stoner son!

Sounds like you have a nice project going. White Widow is in my seed box, looks awesome ready to go for it. Blue Hash? Hashplant X BB? I have grown Blueberry and CA Hashplant and enjoy them both, but my BB wasn't very stable so I had to toss her.
I hear ya about refusing defeat. Meds get expensive. In my area meds are at(and sometimes above) street prices.

I do plan ahead, but I am starting to not care whether it gets done or not. It is what is.
I have been suffering from stomach pain and muscle spasms in the abdominal area. Eating is very difficult. Pain starts in the morning when waking up or wakes me up and feels like there is a large amount of pressure or weight on my stomach. Movement of the abdominal area causes me to become nauseas. The pain becomes somewhat manageable once I have eaten all though then the pain comes and goes in waves and is unpredictable. If I eat and medicate enough I can usually find some relaxing time before bed, but sometimes the pain continues on.
If you don't mind my asking what is going on with you?
Congratulations on having a good son. It is a really good hobby, and the skills learned here can be used for many plants, nontheless is good knowledge of how things live. Don't forget you can always simplify your grow to meet your needs.
Thanks again for the kind words, and I enjoy watching your medicine grow:shock::weed::leaf:
