A Case Full Of Glass

FDD - the blown in stuff is looking good. I'm curious, what size tubings are you using for the inner and outer parts? I've never tried one. (I know, I could go over to the glass forum for advice, but I spend a lot more time here).
they are blowOUTS. i start with solid rod. then i shove some color into the center of it and put it onto the end of a blow tube. then i blow it OUT into a huge bubble. this puts all the color on the inside of a layer of clear. then i draw on 3-4 feet of 4mm clear rod in crazy patterns. then melt it all in and reduce it down. :joint:

Cool, thanks for the info. I'll have to give that a try sometime too. I need to break out my ruts more often. It's been a while since I've made time to experiment.

How so? If you have good ventilation, there's no problem IMO. My back hurts after a long day, but that's about it. I've been at it for about 11 yrs..

i told my DR the other day that i was blowing glass. he told me to stop. i asked why. he said he had a patient a few weeks ago who had been blowing glass for 6 or 7 years and now has emphysema. i asked how the hell you get that blowing glass. he said he had NO IDEA. maybe from sucking in all those glass particles for all those years. i said we blow, we don't suck. and even if we did there are NO "glass particles". the stuff is damn near liquid. it's sticky not dusty. he say "well i don't know what or how you do it, but it's dangerous".

i told him to GTFO. told him how i welded galvanized and aluminum in confined spaces for years. you just gotta have good ventilation. he asked if i did. i said "yes". he said "oh, ok".

people.

I was thinking the same thing. it's damn near str8 liquid, when you deal with solids you can see the shit burning off ah high temps.
