As of recently im trying to step up my game not for competition or sell or anything like that. Im using cfls at the moment not knocking them i enjoyed them for my first grow. Im poor and this seems like a sweet deal and im sure alot of you guys are going to be like get a 400w or a 1000 but i dont want anything huge i may lean towards a 400w hps but not sure b/c i heat my house with electric and dont need my bill to be any bigger than what it is. I was scoping out ebay and found two deals that really shocked me and is making me consider hps lighting.

what do you think guys im curious as too how much of a differnce between in electrical feed these are going to cost.

400w hps will cost about the same for power as 400w in cfls but will give you more lumens. But consider the heat, hps makes a lot of heat. An intermediate solution might be T5 HO flourescent

i'd go for the 400w and deal with the heat, use a bathroom extractor or something to keep cost down.

you will make back the money with the extra smoke from the hps.

I use electric heat also, have a 400 hps in a closet. If i leave the door open it heats the room so the heat does not come on. So it can be a trade off. ck'd prices on the lamps good. i would go with the 400 if heat is not a problem. would have to be vented if it is. I have mine vented, but haven't use it in the cold weather up here.

i would go with a 600 only couple more bucks then the 400 and is more efficent youll need a air cooled hood either way 600 way better for your bang

I think 600 would be way too much. It is well ventelated where its at its in a closet but its sectioned theres a space beteween the sections so there plenty of air. Im leaning toward the 400 but not sure can anybody post pics of results from a 400w hps and does anybody use a 150?

unless the closet has a fan actively pulling the hot air out of it, then you're gonna warm up that closet realllllly quickly. i'm in the UK aka not very hot and without the extraction fan running on the cooltube the cab very quickly hits past 90C with a 400w hps

its a really big closet not quite a walk in but might as well be its probally about 10ft by 3ft plenty of space and i can open a doors it has like 5 of them

mine is about 9 foor by 6 foot by 2 foot, and it still get's mighty hot in there. with the doors open i'm sure it wil be fine. but in my situation, i have to be able to close the door (well it musdt always be closed in my case) for security reasons. if it's all legal and all that lot then jsut leave em open and you should be smiling

i'm now thinking about a 600w in there instead of the 400w

not legal unfortuantly cant leave the direct door open b/c theres a window beside it i was thinking about just painting that window black b/c i just dont care about it lol I have another one.

if the window can be seen by neighbours, who you never know miught be home grown vigelantes, then they might think a black window, wtf, and start nosing around or tipping the cops off etc.

i know a lot of grow ops in my city have been raided due to things as simple as curtains not ever being drawn etc. i'd certainly be intrigued if i saw a window painted black and would most likely assume somehting illgal was happening behind it

hmm yah good point thanks for the tip any suggestions but heres thing im litterally the highest house in my town nobody sees shit i can see for miles and its not possible for anybody to see in my house unless there standing on the moutain side or flying around.

by all means, if you think you can get away with it then do so, just letting you know that certain people do look out for that kind of stuff.

else throw on a red neck persona board the window up, sit on the porch doing whatever it is they do and claim it's a broken window you've never bothered getting around to fixing.
