*Please do not post to tell me I'm paranoid or a retard etc etc etc no haters I would rather it went unanswered*

*Please do not post to tell me a pig needs a warrant to scan my shit, I am in a place where they are not governed by these rules and do so on a daily basis*

*Please do not post a link to the FAQ*

The layout is as shown below, I am using an open closet [passive exhaust] and a forced exhaust cut into the closet roof to expell any excess heat and draw in new air [duct fan] the door is always left open to exhaust any heat build up and spread it evenly throughout the entire top level, I no longer want the closet to face the door to the room as I am sleeping in this room to provide extra Co2 and the lamp is unbearably bright I therefore intend to turn the closet 90 degrees as pictured below to solve this problem but it will then face a top floor exterior wall, does anyone have experience of this kind of thing, I am not only thinking of exterior surface temps but also don't want my closet temps to rise above 78F.

[Would appreciate the input of Doc111 or anyone else with extensive knowledge of FLIR.]

Man you're paranoid as shit LOL. Sorry I had to say it.

Seriously until you're over around a 5000 Watt grow opt flir will have a hard time showing an outstanding heat signature if you have proper ventilation and cooling. If your grow room is at 78 degrees and your lights are air cooled or water cooled then flir will show the room's heat siqnature to be around 78-80 degrees (with maybe a minor hot spot on the bulb). Seriously that won't look strange at all. People have hot water tubs, servers, heating units, cooling units, fridges (these actually make a lot of heat), hot water piping and a shit ton of other shit that show off high heat signatures.

Bottom line most people get busted for selling or being lazy idiots/big mouths. If you are just growing for yourself and some friends you should be fine. Just don't do like a 50 to 500 plant grow opt thinking you'll get away with that.

???

My closet sits around 78F, ambient temps are around 68F as the door to the room is open as well as the closet door the heat does not hang around and hardly effects ambient temps,

You can light up a FLIR with a 250w HPS if you vent directly to the outside.

"A hot spot ON the bulb", I doubt it as FLIR cannot see through walls, only monitor the surface temps of exterior walls,

IMO a pig would not even see the increase temp to think oh, maybe he has a hot tub etc etc etc.

In my OP I wanted to know if it is ok to face this heat to an exterior wall [probably a better idea not to] for FLIR reasons and to keep ambient temps at 78F as the closet will no longer face the open door of the room as a result the passive exhaust will become less effective.

I am having trouble putting this into words, but something has to change.

I am not paranoid I just like my front door the way it is.

Thankyou for the advice.

lol, no, I have a 400w vented into my room but I agree with you, my post about the 250 was if it was vented directly to the outside in winter/cold weather.

if you're gonna vent directly outside then it's pretty much a "will they catch on" situation, if they try hard, and find that there is indeed some hotter air coming out, then they might figure it, or think hot tub, or if it really as police crazed as you say, then they'll jsut kick your door in just to make sure.

so i guess it's no different to saying "will the neighbour smell it or not" in that at the end of teh day, all you're doigng is putting yourself at risk.

work out a solution that will keep you safe. i wouldn't upgrade or expand on my grow unless i know i can contain it withou undue possible attention

Please do not post trolls.
or else you gonna come and git me?

Your original post is fucking idiotic and annoying. You come on here and give orders like you are some kind of 2 bit general from a 3rd world country and we all better snap to and do whatever you say because you walk around with your left hand on your balls and your right thumb up your ass.

If you wanted only one guy to reply you should have just pm'ed him and stfu on a public forum telling the rest of us how we should reply.

Talk nice and we talk nice back.

Talk like your name implies and guys like me will shit all over you.

Maybe fdd will smack me a bit for getting on your case but he knows where I'm coming from and likes to see me own a few smart asses from time to time.

Don't mess with me G. I will outwit you with intelligence and precision word bombings :hump:

Personally I keep my grow closet close to me, so at the worst it looks like I have space heater running in my computer room.

Second, you are far to paranoid to start up any form of grow up... I would highly suggest building your grow area and growing some tomatoes, lettuce, broccoli, etc, until you get a knock at your door. Bring the nice law enforcement officers inside to see your completely lawful indoor garden and they will probably never call you again. If they don't come see you after the first year of growing some food, you're probably safe to grow a couple plants for your own consumption.

Third, flir evidence is only used against you when there is already enough evidence to warrant looking at your closer. If you are close to a border and concerned about the flir used for guarding the border, they are looking for human heat signatures crossing the border and those border guards couldn't give two shits about the UFO sized heat signature coming from you house. They might land to buy a half baggy though.

So, in conclusion, just grow the damn plants and keep your mouth shut about it, grow only for yourself and a couple close friend and you'll have no problems. Common Sense is key here, if you have a greenhouse full of pot plants and lights for them... you might get caught. Your closet? Not to likely, because in the United States and Canada(*) a warrant is required to search a house.

* = If you are Canadian and have a firearms licence, you could be subject to safety inspections but generally you receive 24hrs of notice and they are only allowed to look in areas that are for firearms storage.
