400w MH lamp for 12plants! ( extra lights)

Right so i have a hut which im planning on using most of the space inside, however i only have one 400w lamp and getting another one isnt a possibility at the moment. I have already bought two fluorescent 36w tube lights to place around the outside, but i didnt expect all my Feminized White widow and my Californian dream to survive.

The problem is now i want to grow them large as i have alot of time on my hands(3-4months :S), but i need some advise on how to maximize my harvest quality and amount.

12 plants is gonna be alot for that one lamp and grow room you cant do six now then six later?And you will want a hps bulb for flowering maybe if you buy a shitload of cfl's also you might do better but grow space still comes into factor but good luck with whatever route you take.

Hi, I suggest growing them short but stout. Meaning 24 inches or less. The 400 watt will do it but make sure you have plenty of circulation to prevent stagnant air from becoming mildewy or moldy. Use good quality organic nutrients and pay attention to pH of your soil or hydro solution. Roots hate it when pH is too low or high. (5.8 to 6.8 is a good range)
You'll get an ounce to ounce and a half per plant. Growing plants bigger is a waste of time. Quicker turn over is better. In 4 months you could possibly turn the crop twice! IMHO Happy Gardening! GrowIT!

400w = approx 50000 lumens
600w = approx 90000 lumens
So for both.... 140000 lumens divided by 50 sf = 2800 lu/sf = near par lighting.
140000 lu / 40 sf = 3500 lu/sf = still too low(good but low)
140000 lu / 30 sf = 4667 lu/sf = still too low but getting there(better and midrange)
140000 lu / 20 sf = 7000 lu/sf = lots better!(very close to optimum)
140000 lu / 17 sf = 8235+ lu/sf = optimum!(actually optimum +)

Thanks for you comments guys, i cant do the 6now 6 later idea as they are already growing and healthy in my bedroom. I may consider doing two grows however, i really just wanted to let them grow huge, what would happen if i let them grow for 2/3months and them put them into flowering stage. (would they murder one another or waa?

I have a hps bulb Stoner, and the room within the hut does seem to be enough, its just the amount of lights. Im willing to go out and buy some more anythings. However, here in Spain u cannot buy any large wattage lights and i no longer have a credit card to use, I was considering buying 4 more tubes ( 36w) and a few of those 75w energy saving lights. Could this work?

no but only the ones near the light will grow well, the ones arounf the edges will just live in the shadow's like some type of hobo plant, they will basically turn out to be runts.

your gona needs some high quality reflective material and be commited to moving your plats to get a share of the light or better still make the light mobile.

starts to sound like a lot of hassle and if your just growing for personal reasons its probibly not worth it. let em get to 4-5 weeks old and just keep the best 4 or 5 at most or your gona be making alot of work for yourself.

I would consider making it mobile, however i have been looking around and i cannot find any cheap ones. ( the fan technique would be to much for this space but the electronic thing that moves the light forwards and backwards would work perfectly). Also would painting the whole thing white be a sufficient reflective system?

in short, 400w is not nearly enough to grow 12 big plants, not on a small budget anyway!!

Whatever you do 12 plants will be costly to support and if your first grow your inexperiance could easily get you caught with quite a large ammount of cannabis.

Have you though about smells, intruders, venting, waiste, etc etc, start with a few plants and work up as you feel more confident and gain experience.

BTW you might need 3-4 month just to grow normal sized indica doms anyway 8 wk veg 8 wk flower at best case.

Ye this is my first time grow, but ive read more books and watched more videos on every aspect of growing. ( venting im going to use a kitchen cooker pump thing to pump air up into the air and away. My area is extremely well protected security wise.

Im knew to this forum type thing so i don't know if its normal or not for me to ask if u have a skype account/msn encase i had any emergency questions?

think about it mate, what you are about to do is illigal accross most of the world, its best if you protect yourself as much as possible.

Stay small for your first grow. I'm growing large trees indoors 2 month veg. I plan on having 3000 watts for flowering 4 plants with vertical lighting. So now do you see the comparison. I'd just flower right now and then save some dough for upgrades.

and there you have it, 3000w for 4 plants or 400w for 12.... who's gona grow the most weed....

you should have thought of this before you popped them seeds mate.
