Hey guys! I plan to start growing my own weed and i need help choosing my equipment I share a apartment and I plan to grow lowryders in my closet in a Grow tent. What I need now is some input on what to purchases.

The tent I plan on using is a GrowLan Horticultural Grow Room GL 40 its measured 1'4" x 1'4" x 3'11". Is the tent ok for growing Lowryder strains?

Ok. I would go with cfl setup. I would make it into a two section and bud on top veg on bottom. List Two 40 to 80 watt pc fans one top one bottom. At least 3 40 watt cfl daylights for vegg and 3 20 watt soft white cfls for budding.:weed:

That should work if you have a small air-cooled hps, say 250w. Cfls are the cheaper option but they're not very powerful and you have to rig them all together to get good lighting, which is sketchy unless you're very good at diy. The other advantage is that they aren't as hot.

If you are you could also build your own box with 2x4s, plywood and poly plastic or mylar and save some money.

How big is your closet? Personally, I'd go with a 400w if at all possible. You won't regret it.

I was thinking about a 250 cfl since it is easier to cool since I cant drill holes for ventilation. If I get a 250 watt hps what would I need to cool it? Can some 127mm pc fans cool it?

P.S I'm not much of a DIY guy.

Hmm, yea in that case you might be better off with a big cfl although the bulbs are almost as expensive as an HID ballast anyhow. I've used a 150w one for veg and it worked fine, but I don't know about flowering with it.

The tent has little inlets for ducting, so you could exhaust the hot air with a small inline fan. They have cheap ones at home depot without the cable or the hydro store pre-wired for like 30 or 40 bucks. You could also go for a good one but they are more expensive, like around 100 and you might need it if it gets hot where you are. And I wouldn't recommend growing in a tent in your closet unless you can exhaust the hot air even with cfls. You need proper air flow and even with a fan and a tent, you might still need to keep your closet door open most of the time to exhaust the heat.

Get the 250 watt HPS, not the 250 watt CFL
They both use the same wattage but the CFL sucks and the 250w HPS doesn't
Lol it doesn't suck but it is not nearly as bright as the 250w HPS

you need about 20% more wattage in cfl for same lumens for the hotter, electric hog types.. that tent's demensions are extremly small for the price? i got a 4'x8' tent for $160.. i understand the space limits but you can get a cardboard box and some black and white plastic, ( also called panda plastic), and line inside of box, much cheaper. Measure your closet to get a better fit. you only have 3 feet high in that thing, use a hot light and you would have to start your 12/12 at about 6 inchs! most closests have about 4-5 ft to the hanger pole, sizing your box up to that would give you more room to grow up and even a medium box would give you some room to grow more plants... 16"x16" just dont seem doable and for $100 bucks, ( with shipping)? wow, looks like you going to get ripped. You could get some pieces of pvc, real cheap stuff and cut and fit for a custom fit also.. if a box dont sound cool.

Growing in a shared apartment? Careful.......apartments are notorious for surprise inspections and neighbor problems that impact your stealthiness.....make sure whatever you buy includes a odor extraction device such as a char can............

I dont like any of the idea thus far .......why not just get a normal size tall tent and be done?? does your apartment made more little people?? why are you trying to grow in the smallest possible tent??

Just get a normal size tent ones that 6 feet tall...if you dont need the extra room then you dont use it but getting one two small will just be a headace in the long run.....just MO though.......................................................................................................................................................
