Root bound???

Ive got 2 plants vegging currently. One looks great and is about 3 1/2 feet tall, the other is about 3 feet. On the shorter one the leaves at the top are starting to yellow and curl under. The taller plant seems fine. They both get about 1/2 a gallon of water every other day. I just started with a half dose of nutes on Saturday.
Any ideas as to what it could be? Based on what Ive seen on the board Im thinking it is root bound. The other plat in taller though and is fine in the pot. The pots are 1 1/2 gallon.

I would go to a 5 gallon. 1/2 gallon of water every other day seems excessive. I would wait more like 3 days and then water till it drains out of the bottom.

Not sure about it being root bound. Overwatering could also mean nute burn if you are adding nutes every watering. The fox farm nutes I am using says to add them every other watering. So, I only use nutes once per week because I water twice.

Im only adding the nutes every other watering. Since starting to veg Ive only added half a dose of nutes. Should I go up to bigger pots???

no you should cut down on the nutes and not water so often. It would seem that you have already decided what is wrong and you just want someone to back up your thought. Unfortunately your plants pot size is of small significance at this time.

pots work like this , deep thin pots will grow tall less wide plants - wide shallow pots (in my view the best for soil mediums) grow shorter more broad plants, obviously differnt strains behave in differnt ways,ie sativas will always be taller than a indica based plant ,i personally dont see the need to add nutrients in the vegative stage, the soil or mix you pot into already carrys enough fert for vegative growth and in my experience can only cause over nute issues, let your plants dry out, overwatering will only prove to stunt growth, when the pots are dry , note the weight , then water spareingly until water is coming out of pot drainage holes, then dont water again until plants are same weight again!, i hope i have been of help , i have 15years soil & coco mix growing exsperience, i no nothing about hydro peace my friend =)

I plan on following the advice give. I just want to cover all of the bases is all. Ive got them this far and it would suck if one died.

What kind of soil are you using?
I ask this because in your post it says that you just started with half strength nutrients but your plant looks pretty big to have not been fed before.

the plants are stressed enough without repotting them for no reason...

I can tell by the size of that plant that if it is indeed in a 1 1/2 gallon pot that it is rootbound.Which I believe would qualify as an excellent reason to repot them.Come to think of it I can't think of many other reasons you would want to repot them but thats just me.
In Jorges book I believe it says use 1-1 1/2 gallons of soil for every month of good rapid growth.
This plant looks to be older than 1 1/2 months.
Immyowngod next time you feed just check to see if they are in fact rootbound.Water heavily,put your hand on top of the soil with the stalk in between your middle and ring fingers.Then flip the pot upside down and while supporting the root ball with one hand use your other hand to loosen the pot from the root ball.

(especially woo. he thinks you can grow pot by rooting a leaf, LOL!!!) anyways, your post says you currently have 2 plants in veg. dude, that pic is of a flowering plant, and no one even mentioned it. also, you say you just started feeding at half strength? 3 foot plants need food need to be fed. feed in soil once a week. between feedings, plain ph'd water. they need to dry up between watering/feeding too. poke your finger into the medium about 2". when it's dry, water/feed it. you can x-plant too if you want to. it's not that big of a deal...

I already posted that this plant is too big to not be feeding it......Does this mean he shouldn't listen to this?

That plant looks over watered and under fed. It really looks like it was lacking nitrogen going in to flowering now it's starving for everything. The plant would also love to have a bigger pot but in my opinion, you are too far along to make that transition, you really don't want to be stressing your plant out that much this far into glowering. Live and learn on the pot size for now. I would cut it down to watering about that much every 3 days instead, unfortunately it is tough when you have such a large plant and such a small area to hold the water, but you do need the pots to dry through every once in a while, just occasionally wait for your plants to wilt a bit before watering again. I would definately hit them atleast once with some N even though you are a ways into flowering, that lady is big enough to handle a decent nuting and then raise your flowering nutes closer to full strength, she does really look starved to me. Also what is the humidity in the room if it is too high, this could be causing a lot of your problems as well. Hope this helps a bit.

With Mary this is almost true^^^^. But If you are using the same technique on 2 plants one in a pot too small and one in a pot with plenty of room for root growth, I can guarantee you that the one in the larger pot will be healthier and produce more. This is why I stated that he should not repot this far into flowering since it will still survive in a pot that size and the stress could do more harm than good.

yes and no. plants can become root-bound, but as long as all of their needs are met, they'll do/grow fine. limiting root mass only limits yield...

Is it just a myth or something?
Rootbound plants are a pain in the ass to keep healthy.Thirsty,hungry and heat stressed plants are not my idea of a good crop.And that is exactly what happens when you let your plants get rootbound ( unless you're home everyday to water them 2-3 times a day).
