hello everyone, i plan on installing new circuit dedicated to my lights, and i read tons of tutorials and got the gist of it down, but should i get professional or just DIY myself? i have confidence i can do it, btw i have never messed with anything electrical in my life..

and how much do u think it will cost for new circuit, receptacle and wires?

thanks again everyone

if you've never worked with electricity before, dont do it your self. your better off running a power strip through wall s or where ever your grow room is located. how big a of a grow setup are we talking here? 2 power strips wont do it?

400 HPS and 600HPS, stanley blower and 7inch holmes fan on one 15amp plug with surge protector.... is that too many watts on one circuit? nothing else will be on

nah you'll be fine, thats not much power for 1 circuit. Just recently did i set up a completely independent panel for my 2 rooms and did it myself cuz parts are cheap and saved the money labor. If the powers off and you know how to match colors then go for it, use a volt test on everything before you plug n play.

I took on that very project last spring. I also had no experience beyond replacing a switch or outlet. The new breakers were less than $5.00 each for 30 amp breakers. Inside wiring rated for 30 amps and a couple double outlet boxes with covers was about $40.00. I had about a 60' run from my grow room to the circuit breaker box. Oh yeah, also needed a box of wire staples. Don't forget to turn off the main breaker to the Breaker box. I googled a tutorial online and the whole job took me about 3 hours.
I was quoted $175.00 for each circuit and was able to do it myself (my son did all the ladder work) for less than $50.00. Now I have a dedicated circuit for each of my 2 rooms and never have to worry about trpping the breakers. It is over kill I know but if you are going to do it, why not do it once and be done with it.

You won't be disappointed. If you are going to go through the work, why not a 30 amp breaker? You just have to install the correct gauge wire.

standard outlets on a 30 amp breaker is against code in the US.if you need that much power, run 2 20 amp circiuts.
