any body ever tried drying a plant still in soil?

just wondered how it would be. wether it would help the slow dry cureing process, or if it would damage your bud or taste nasty?

part of the curing process is being in a sealed environment and the plant doesnt die at the end of flowering either so i doubt it will 'cure' at all.

you could try to stop the flow of water & nutrients from the main stem but then you may as well just cut the fucker and hang it all up by the main stem.
