so i have 16 vegging plants, my light setup is two 48" 2bulb fixtures with 8 plants in a straight line under each one with daylight t12's. will this work for vegging them up? or should i switch them out for t8's? or should i ditch the fixtures and rig something up with CFL's although i think it might be a little difficult to CFL 16 plants. Any input would help this is a first time grow for me the flowering stage wont be a problem i got 600 watt HPS's for that its the veg im worried about. any input would be great. Thanks.

ehh sounds good, but the problem is i dont plan on buying the hps systems unless i get a few good mother plants out of the 16 in veg and thats if they all stay alive so i wanna veg these plants for a while with some cheapo lights and save the hps and their energy costs for flower only.

so what do you guys think 16 vegging plants, light setup is two 48" 2-bulb fixtures with 8 plants in a straight line under each one with daylight t12's. will this work for vegging them up? or should i switch them out for t8's? or should i ditch the fixtures and rig something up with CFL's with like those twin socket adapters although i think it might be a little difficult to CFL 16 plants

Exactly. Those lights will be perfect for when they are seedlings and small, but as the foliage increases, and you have to put them in bigger pots, that light will hardly be enough for 16 plants. If you want to try just vegging them for 2 weeks or so then throwing them into flower, then sexing them that would work. Trust me, you should get at leat one vigorous female out of 16 seeds, so don't worry about that.

id switch out the t12s for some t5s, and 600 watt hps with digital ballast only cost me about 5 xtra dollors to run a month

so i could Veg my plants with a 600watt hps on a 18/6 cycle wait for them to hit 18-20" and then switch the timer to 12/12 to flower????? i thought hps were for flower only cuz of its yellowish looking light that emits,i thought you had to use a bright white Daylight bulb untill they got atleast 18-20"??

hps is more ideal for flowering but works just fine. I also vegged with a hps and had awesome results. It's just not the most economical to run a hps on seedlings on weeks 1 and 2 since you have to keep it so far away.

There are 600 watt kits that come with both 600w hps and a 600w MH for about 250 or i could spend 220 for just the hps without the MH so for a 30 dollar difference a kit with both or a kit with 1 is it worth the xtra 30$ to get the MH with it??? and use that for vegging is there going to be that much of a difference? or should i just spend 220 for hps only and veg and flower under that?

so a 600w MH bulb is really that good for vegging huh? is it much better then vegging and flowering under just a 600w hps
