Has anyone ever used a box from

I was planning on starting my first grow and for $300 with little to no setup it seems too good to be true.

More like $50 to build. Looks like some CFLs on a multi-outlet strip, an 80mm CPU fan, and an okay box. I'll tell you right now that the unit itself is of sterlite manufacture and the lid lets a ton of light through to the roots. The same looks true of the box itself like they used plasti-coat paint on it - looks black, but lets light through still.
It says "3 Bulbs 6500k, 3 bulbs 2700k" but you can't use them all at the same time and they claim 300 watt which is really 300w incandescent equivalent (3x 26w actual CFL) and those high powered fans are really about 17 CFM (not bad for a small box) but they let light in which will F up your flowering, plus is looks like the unit isn't sealed so more light leaks there as well.
Also, changing your nutes in a DWC without incorporated drainage (which this doesn't have) is a massive pain in the ass, I mean MASSIVE. Find or build something else, this thing is a scam.

Hmmm okay. Would someone point me in the direction of a DIY grow box with carbon filter and a way to get a lock on it. I'm planning on putting this thing in my rents basement which is a bad idea but o well. Probably by like the furnace with cardboard boxes hiding it.

It's good you know you plan to grow near dry heat sources surrounded by kindling, but you should really stick to doing fires outside.
