alrite im thinking of going dwc but atm i have a aerogarden with airpump etc... im wondering is there really any difference ? how would i be benefiting from changing over ? the only 1 thing i can point out would be the bigger res , but this aint gonna make my plants grow better..

Aerogarden "is" a dwc variation. And yes, a larger res will make a huge difference. The aerogarden res is only a gallon, barely enough for one small plant. Most novice growers look only at the green part of the plant and ignore the roots. But they are just as important. Less than 2 gallons of water per plant necessarily limits its growth and potential size.

i have 2 decent size plants in my AG and there is probly room for atleast 1 more. ok so the only real difference is the res size

A 5 gal tote with 3 - 3.5 gal of water would be ok for 2 plants, much better than the AG

I use the Pro 100 Aerogarden. I've had success with it. I live in a small condo and have very limited space. If I had an extra room, I would probably go with a DWC system because I could grow more than 2 or 3 plants at a time.

Since it's for my personal use, I'm satisfied with the yield and the Aerogarden is pretty easy to maintain when you get used to it.

You guys ever look at the turbogarden. While the price is high it is 2x3 and ebb and flow and for a rather huge fee it can be converted to aero. Like 300-400 new for aero but you can pick up used ebb and flow models for a song and dance on craigs list. That 2 x 3 tray is a nice size for convenince of space. I have built my own trays out of cement trays and have a 3x3 that is huge for my little space but this is sexy machine! Ebb and flow is a seriously fun and easy system. I use recycled tire media mulch so that i dont have hydrotons cleaning up probs. Reusable as shit! Or good old rockwool if I only have one pump on hand.
