What is the most reliable Mh & Hps Bulb for Digital Ballasts?

What in your opinion are the most reliable bulbs to use in digital ballasts? My other posts show cheap bulbs i've been sold melting down under the high frequency of the digital ballast.

Well so far i've found that grow brite bulbs suck in digital ballasts, and also agromax. Both made in china. Now the company is sending me a Sun Master (made in usa) not sure if thats a good thing or not but if this blows i dont know what to do.

So I take it the SunMaster worked?
Ran it for a week with no problems. Have nowhere safe to grow right now. But I was told sunpulse bulbs were designed for the higher frequencies of digital ballasts. If your having problems check them out. There isn't much support out there for this issue. If ya have any questions feel free to ask.

I've heard its not good to use Hortilux bulbs on digitals but I run 6 Lumatek digitals and have ran nothing but Hortilux bulbs and never has one burned out in over 2 years.

On a side note, my friend just had his 3rd bulb in 6 months go out. I warned him about buying htg supply junk.

Yes sir, i've used my Eye Hortiluxes with my Digital Lumateks and have had great results so far; not that have any past experience with other bulbs to compare to, but no probs with any of the 4 Hortilux bulbs i've bought. I've run one for the past 5 months, 2 for 2 1/2 months and 1 for a month, very very dense. Good luck to you sire

I'm currently using a 1000w magnetic, I've heard 600w digitals produce comparable results.

1. have you any experience with magnetic vs digital and can you tell us?
2. do you know if I can run the dual 600w Lumatek with only 1 bulb?

eye hortilux . . . check! +rep

Unfortunately i'm a noobie, and I don't have any experience with any other ballast other than a 250 ballast about 5 years ago. I hope i'm getting similar results to the 1000W.

I bought the most expensive lighting package availible; just to try to acheive satisfactory results, and i'm really liking the intensity of my Hood & Reflector.

If i'm not mistaken, the 'dual' feature you are referring to is the ability to run Metal Halide or High Pressure Sodium bulbs. I would call it a "Switchable Ballast".

In the recent past you could only buy a MH ballast or a HPS ballast. The dual feature is DEFINATELY an A+ because you can put either bulb in for veg or flower. :blsmoke:

Most digital ballasts also allow you to hook up 120 V power cable, or a 240 V power cable. I don't think the 240V cable is included with the purchase of a 120/240 V capable ballast; I think it's 20-40$ extra and allows you to hook it up to a washer/dryer type receptacle.

I hope that i've helped. I don't mind if you have any questions. Everyone here at RIU is really great. I was helped tremendously, and now all I want to do with my time is help you in return. It's hard not being able to talk to your family and friends about this stuff.

All digitals that I know of will run MH and HPS, what he is talking about is one of these with two outlets and is basically two ballasts in one.

i think so, and i dont think it would be a problem to run one light with the dual system, not sure why you would spend the extra money on it thought unless you planned on expanding.
