Hangdry harvest in freezing cold garage?

I have a harvest coming in about 2-3 weeks. I have only 1 room. If i chop my plants, will it harm them if i hang in my, dark Freezing cold garage? Odor is an issue, so hanging in a closet is not an option. Humidity is very low in my grow room(40%) but i still have 12/12 plants going after these. Wut do u think?? + rep for REAL answers... thanks in advance

Only thing to watch out for when drying bud is mold. Mold cannot live in an enviroment with a low humidity. A humidity of under 50% and you should have no mold problems, Air circulation also discourages mold growth. In a cold enviroment like that I'm assuming that it ill take longer for your crop to dry. However as a plus they shouldn't smell as much since its so cold. Just get that RH down and put in a fan maybe...you should be okay.

Yup, thats what i thought. I just found a little cart with shelves. Im gonna staple screens inside, layered. Then throw a dark towel over it. Keeping it inside my room. I knew id figure somthin out, sometimes u just need someone to get ur brain movin! Good lookin out! +rep

Just had a quick question.. Im drying currently in 40% humidity and 65 degrees.. They look great so far but is it ok if the room is pretty cold?? i noticed the buds were pretty moist because i chopped them yesterday so i reduced dehumidifer from 45 to 40%.. I set my AC unit to 65 degrees but it doesnt even have to turn on b/c its already that cold in there....is everything fine?

I'd say don't do it. You can store bud in the freezer after you have dried it out. But getting the bud cold before it's dry is a bad idea, it'll shwag out on you, or not be as good as it should be. For example when I brake a branch from an outdoor plant and leave it hang outside on the plant, the bud on it turns purple and flavor goes down and it's not as good. Cool temps outdoors when flowering is one of the main culprits in bud shwaggin out outdoors.

What you really want to do the opposite, if you want your bud to be at it's full potential, you want to bring it up to higher temparture where it starts to sweat, around 90 degrees. Then back it off and let it dry.

If you have already started the cold dry shwag process, I'd move the bud to a warm spot right away.

You want to check thuroughly for any type of mold or mildew. Get dry as fast as possible. I've even had to take outdoor bud and put it in the microwave for 10 seconds when the problem was advanced

That's the exact opposite of what you want to do. You want your bud to dry in about a 60 to 65 degree room over at least a ten day period . Humidity should be roughly 60
